    Hi
    I'm Enrique from Argentina
I've bought (for a client) 5 licenses of ESS and received 1 username/pw set. I'd like to know some things about this

    1. Should I receive 5 user/pw sets ?
    2. Does ESS know how much times I've used that user/pw set?
    3. What about .lic files?
    4. I didn't understand very well about the module for broadcasting updates through LAN PCs. Where can I get it?
    5. What if I have to re-format some PCs in the LAN? what will happen with my user/pw ?

Thanks a lot in advance. :thumb:

Answers below presume you've purchased a Business License and are my take on the situation. More experienced users or resellers may like to chip in, especially if I'm totally wrong.

    1. Should I receive 5 user/pw sets ?
    No

    2. Does ESS know how much times I've used that user/pw set?
No but you are licensed to use then on 5 machines. If they detect abuse, they will disable your account. They may check machine IDs or concurrent usage now or in the future but I don't think they do. If any software is allowed to phone home to stay updated, it can double check it's license.

    3. What about .lic files?
You need a license file to create a LAN mirror - see screenshot. Adding a license file, enables the Mirror tab in Advanced Update.

    4. I didn't understand very well about the module for broadcasting updates through LAN PCs. Where can I get it?
It is called ESET Remote Administrator (ERA). It comes in two parts, a server and a console. With the business license you can download these and their manuals from the normal download site. ERA monitors your license count but it is informative only. It allows you to see the status of all clients from one place. Alternatively, you can create a mirror using a standard Nod32 installation on any client or server after you add a license file.

    5. What if I have to re-format some PCs in the LAN? what will happen with my user/pw ?
Nothing. We've swapped out nearly all our original computers now. I did nothing special to transfer licenses to the new ones.

Hope this helps. Their manuals are pretty good these days and you can download any of them. ;)

This is what I call a very helpful and responsive answer
One more q. How can I get a lic. file? I've bought a business license... does it come with the ERA stuff?

Thanks a lot in advance. Sorry 4 the ignorance

The ERA stuff is bundled with the business license. Some might find it overkill but I use it for only a few clients because I can logon remotely to the Server and see instantly where all clients are at.

You should be able to download the ERA stuff as soon as you have your username and password.

The license file is attached to your license email.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad I could help.
