Hi,folk: Past few days? No, not until this AM(Canada/USA-EST). Mine sits at 606,631 01/24/07. Server's problem seems a norm for AVG these days. Here goes a cyber life.

Hi FolkS; Patience and persistence are ALL you need to overcome AVG's nasty problems. I took the advice of acooldozen and kept trying manual update. Finally, after x times, it went thru. Bingo, update is 606,716. I did it during my tea time break, therefore I really can not complain it too loudly. Have a good try.

    Hi Perman,

While I do not disagree with you, I expect such problems to not exist consistently. This has not been the first time. I have a lifetime license, and will continue to use it real time, but if I did not, and wanted such a program I would go for a-squared. I use it as on-demand, and it does not have the problems of AVG.

I ditched Avira due to such annoying problems that patience and persistence would have permitted me to continue to use Avira. However, I want my applications to work as advertised. An occasional problem can be expected with any application, but there is a limit as to what I will tolerate.
Each of us has a different tolerance level.

    Best,
    Jerry

Hi, folks:hi, jerryM. I do share your feeling. Each person's level of tolerance is varied. Although I have higher one towards AVG, mine can be worn thin sometimes. Let us hope this type of hiccups are just weather-related. Not epidemic. :D

I use Ewido micro scanner on most computers and on one - AVG AS free . I also can't update (using Windows Firewall). I notice update issues from some days.

It either reports an error or most likely starts to update but very very slowly , really slowly and most of the time it doesn't finish ... Usually it updates fast and flawlessly . I can reach update.ewido.net

I like Ewido very much and do want to use it .

I still have several customers using AVG AS. Most of them are having update problems, where the software will not update for several days, sometimes a week or more.

Can Ewido buy the product back please? :doubt:

On and off for about a week now I have also been getting the "ERROR: server not ready to serve" message when I try to update. It's hit and miss though, some times it works, most times it doesn't.

The first post in this thread is dated Jan. 25th, and now on March 6th I'm posting regarding the same problem. I receive no auto updates, and can only download updates after many tries manually. Will someone from AVG/ewido tell us if and or when this issue will be tended to?

I have to agree with the above poster time is marching on and we are no closer to a permenat fix.

What narks me the most is that I have just renewed my license for a further 2 years. I wish I had waited now until this issue is fixed.

If it's finding malware, it never say it is. I've reset the counter before.
