SafeSpace Question

I am using Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I have firefox installed on my D: partition separate from my windows C: partition. When I install Safespace it recognizes internet explorer which is on C: and makes the rules for it, but it doesn't recognize firefox. What items do I have to add to "Privacy" and "Applications" tab in order to get firefox to work in safespace? I have tried everything I can think of but I end up getting an error titled XULRunner "Couldn't read application.ini" when I try to run firefox in safespace. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

 

Did u try this? Application tab> add > firefox.exe. BTW i am using it on XP Home but have no FF.

 

SafeSpace always had a issue with Firefox. Just do a search. You wont or cant recitify it.

 

Just a thought. Issue may be due to non-default install of FF. Please try with default install of FF on C partition.

 

I understand that the non standard install may have caused it but I don't want to change the way I use my partitions just because a program can't handle it being on a partition other than C:. Yes, I tried adding firefox.exe. I got the same error.

 

Dont waste your time. Great product but the firefox issue was never resolved from day 1.

 

Just curious as to why you keep firefox on a different partition? Many programs have issues if they are not installed on C: and this is a good example. Why introduce potential compatibility problems for your security applications?

 

what were the FF issues with SafeSpace? i use SS, and i have FF ver 2.xx, while not my primary browser, i do dust it off on occassion, and it appears to work fine within the 'box?

I keep all non windows os programs on a different partition to increase the speed of my os.

I pretty much described the problem, ss doesn't recognize ff on d: and I can't figure out any way to make it work by adding folders through the gui. I gave up and went back to the relatively non configurable geswall free, but at least it works.

 

How can it increase the speed?

 

The first partition is usually the fastest. It also keeps all the os files closer together so the hd doesn't have to search as long.

 

It,s ur choice but I don,t think one can get a significant speed gain.

 

Hi all.

By default, SafeSpace treats all folders outside of C:\Windows and C:\Program Files as private. That means nothing form those directories can be read. So if you install Firefox to D:\... it will fail under the default rules becuase it will br prevented from reading its own resources.

In order to run any application from a non standard install location, you need to add that folder as VIRTUAL under the Privacy tab.

If you install all your applications to the D: drive, then to make things easier, just add the D: drive as VIRTUAL.

It's a common practice, google it. It seems to work for me.

 

I reinstalled tried that and it is now working, thanks for the help. So what's the deal with SafeSpace now Tidy?
