Alrighty, I'm having some trouble here, nothing serious but enough to be annoying:

I just downloaded ProcessGuard from the DiamondCS site, and Installed it with no problems.
After reboot, it starts, and then closes, the icon in the systray disappears.

Since something was wrong, I decided to uninstall it, but it told me that ProcessGuard was protecting me, and that I had to disable it before uninstalling.
That's pretty hard when I can't start it.
I had to disable the auto-startup for the service, reboot and then uinstall and then reboot again.
    And here I am.

The funny thing is, the reason I got ProcessGuard in the first place was to prevent my NOD32 from being shut down directly at startup. And the SAME thing happens to ProcessGuard.

My main problem here is that my NOD32 sys-tray icon disappears right after it starts up, after system startup.

It's like the egui.exe process just shuts down for no reason, I can start it manually though, and then it works fine.

But I need some sort of program that can prevent my NOD32 process from being shut down, or that can monitor what happens, so that I can locate the problem.

If this is not the right place for this question/problem, where should I ask?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: DiamondCS

    Couple of things.

First is part of nod is shutting down, there is a problem that should be addressed. You might ask in the Nod32 forum.

Second, if you've read any of this thread you should realize ProcessGuard is a dead program.

There are other programs you could use. You can start another thread and ask.

    I did not.
I can't find the related .dll or .sys files in system32 (not running safe mode) though, so I guess the uninstallation worked fine, or?

Preventing a process from shutting down.

    hail.

I'm having some trouble with a NOD32 (egui.exe) process shutting down directly after it starts at windows startup.

So I'm wondering if there is a program out there able to prevent another process from being shut down, or somehow monitor the events so that I am able to find out what is shutting it down and/or why.

    thanks in advance

SSM free has basic process monitoring. Haven't tried it yet though but it maybe the app you are looking for.

    Here's their product comparison page:

I made a similar post https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1080674&postcount=28 The last update for process Guard is 3.410 released on 8-10-2006, not the version 3.2 that is on the website now. But as Peter2150 said Process Guard is a dead Program.

One thing. It doesn't matter what program is discussed. IF nod is shuttind down for some reason that means it is having some kind of problem. A program that prevents termination won't stopped that at all. The solution is to find out why nod is shutting down and none of the software discussed will help you with that.

Are you actually concerned that NOD is shutting down and not doing its job or that the tray icon is not visible? A tray icon may sometimes not show for a number of reasons but in case of NOD that does not mean that the protection is not working.

I suppose a programs GUI could be viewed as a program by some but julmust has at least 2 programs systray items disappearing ?

As for his Nod 32 support, that issue is being addressed in the NOD32 Does Not Start Up With Windows thread that julmust posted to and where the Nod32 GUI issue should continue so as not to have duplicate support.

Well, since the NOD32 GUI problem is the main issue, I guess like Bubba said, this should be continued in the other thread.

    Thanks for the help!
