    You're joking :doubt:

    Restoring the file?
Assumed the installation is a legit one, the result is a corrupt installation just because the scanner deleted the file, instead of asking the user ("Delete the file?" Yes/No).

    Excluding it?
How should I exclude a file that I don't know of and that will be created in the future (by the installation)?

Don't get me wrong, I definitely would use PCAV, but I don't use it right now because of the above.

The scenario you describe would only be the case if there was a false positive present against one of the files in the installer. It's not unheard of this to happen, but if it does happen it would interrupt the installer regardless of which AV you use, as most AVs today are configured to block the file and delete or quarantine by default. Yes in some products you can configure the on-access to not block anything and just inform in the log, but then whats the point of having an AV in the first place if you are going to allow everything, including malware, to execute freely? Regardless, in such a scenario you describe I would want the installer to crap out because a file was wrongly detected so that we can get the problem report and fix it.

Is this true? Say, during a scan can Panda quarantine or delete an OS file without letting me know?
And also, i have a license from CNET's giveaway, is it still valid?
    Thanks!

this makes no sense. How is the user to know if it is a legit one one or the result of a corrupt installation. I would think I would rather trust in my AV and if by chance, it makes the wrong call, the option to exclude that file on another install. 2 heads are quite better then one at playing it safe.

you would exclude it because it would be in your recycle bin. Then reinstall. I mean I see what you are saying but in reality I stand a better chance of winning the lottery. Any product can be right or wrong, just as any user can.

An easy, fast (fixed in minutes) solution and one I can live with, the balloon tip has to be approved by the user by clicking a button like "OK" in it.
    It should not disappear automatically.

If the balloon tip is still shown and there was another object deleted by the scanner no new balloon tip has to be shown.

anyone using the background scanning ? What are you thoughts of slow downs? I know in version 1.4 I could feel the slow down. but not anymore with it disabled.

With background scan disabled does that mean you have to now run on demand system scans that you didn't have to before?

No. Before we needed the BackgroundScan for certain types of memory-only malware. That had a small added benefit in contrast to the big impact on performance. Version 1.5 has both things, still detects memory-only malware but without the impact on performance.

Try accessing the above link in any browser inside sandboxie and see whether you get the panda block page. It's just a panda test link. :D

What version of Sandboxie? I know it was fixed in the past by the Sandboxie Dev.

Full scans are still extremely slow, running for 35 minutes now and only on 20%. ESET would have been finished by now, while ESET scans inside archives by default and PCAV 1.5 doesn't. I thought 1.5 would fix the pathetic slow scans, but I guess not.

2 hours and 3 minutes of scanning and on 87%.

Bla bla bla....restore what,a corrupted file that was deleted by Panda?I have 3 licenses for Panda Cloud Pro and guess what..i'm using another AV.Period.
PS.Panda Cloud is THE ONLY AV (for me?but it seems not) that corrupts the file which was deleted.

Cloud based scans will take longer so I use offline based scanners to do a scan of my system before I installed Panda so now Panda can protect me on demand so I only need to do scans less often. Only scans I do are for downloaded files.

This is not that it takes some longer than fully offline scans, it is just some a bug or something like that.

Scan has been completed after 2 hours and 33 minutes (Optimized scan took 18 minutes which I did firstly). CPU time for the Application Host Service (PSANHost.exe) process was 1:50:26, so it is using lots of CPU and extremely slow.

PCAV 1.5 uses much of resources (CPU time) even during on-access/on-execution scan.

Unfortunately there is a noticeable overall system slowdown on my system (Intel i7 (Quad), Intel SSD, Windows 7 64bit, 12GB RAM).

As mentioned on another thread, by its very nature, scanning against signatures and heuristics in the cloud is slower than scanning against local signatures and heuristics. In the future as more AV products start relying on cloud-based signature scans you should see slower scans. This will also be impacted, although to a lesser degree, by the speed and quality of your line. You should never expect a cloud-based product to have a faster scan than a purely local product. If you still think there's something wrong try replicating the slow scan while at the same time running our PsErrorTrace tool and submit the report (or save it locally and send it to me).

What are you talking about hereo_O Files which are deleted by CloudAV can be restored to its original location. What "file corruption" have you seen exactly?

I have a very similar system to yours and I have zero performance impact. This might be a conflict with other installed software. Can you send me the logs from DDS (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr)?

Would disconnecting from the internet, thus forcing PCAV in "Offline mode", improve scan speeds? That might be a good method to test out systems affected with slow scan speeds.

Yes it would, good point. But if you suspect there's something else wrong with the system (due to incompatibilities or conflicts with other AV or FW drivers) its best to use the PsErrorTrace tool as it will allow us to pinpoint the problem.
