What exactly is WAITSERVICE and how does it function with nod32kui ?

Not sure, but I think it is just an instruction for the UI to wait for the kernel service to start before it starts itself.

 

Thanks flyrfan...I figured its kinda in a wait state, but how does it affect how nod32kui executes ? What I mean is does it suspend its execution somehow ? Is this exec executing somewhat differently than most execs ?

Yes beyond that maybe Happy Bytes or Marcos will have to chime in with the technical details. that is above my level of understanding. My guess is that the UI has to wait for the kernel service to start, you can't have a user interface until the program is running. But it is just a WAG on my part.

 

I don't know any technical details as to what would happen if nod32kui was run without that switch. I assume it wouldn't start as the kernel service wouldn't be started yet.

 

Most likely there will be an error message if nod32kui was run without that switch. An error like "unable to load kernel" or something....

 

Hi Mover:

It is a sensor that waits until the system has fully started the nod32krn (NOD32 Kernel) so the nod32kui (NOD32 Graphical User Interface) can interact with it. If one takes off that parameter, the following message will be displayed at boot (see screenshot).

Subsequently starting up the NOD32 Control Center will allow the nod32kui to interact with nod32krn (assuming the service started).
