Downloaded and installed over top of version 2.5. Looks good so far and seems compatible with Webroot SpySweeper 5.0, Comodo Firewall 2.3.6.81, and HostsMan.

DL'd and installed on my win2k system. Installed so fast thought something was amiss until it asked for reboot. Beta, IMO, is about 15% faster than the 2.5 version, at least on my machine. Am just so proud of ESET and NOD32 residing on my computer! Thanks for your very necessary work/development to bring this OUTSTANDING program to us. :thumb:

Hats off to ESET on this one. I don't always like them, and don't always agree with what they say, or don't say. But this is a truly outstanding product. It is a little heavier though. But chaulk that up as constrictive criticism.

    Nice work :D

I have already posted a few times on resource usage measurement in this forum. But to sum it up,
    1. Dont use Windows build in task Manager, try Process Explorer from Sysinternal.

    2. You must look at the Virtual Size of the process as well. NOD32 only uses around 150Mb total while KAV constantly over 200Mb.

    3. Those number for memory used by NOD32 are 100% accurate. Every program will release memory when the OS needs it. The minimum memory i saw NOD32 required was around 4Mb in total ( including UI ) While KAS is already using its minimum memory. So why not follow KAS and uses minimum amount of memory all time? Becoz that means the program will have to fetch data from VM if it is not loaded in its memory and therefore more HDD read and write.

    4. I dont know if Eset ever claim NOD to uses the lowest resources in the AV industry. But they surely aren't too far. ( With AntiVir and Fprot lower then them, but both lack Web Scanner etc )

And resource usage aren't just the measurement of memory usage. Example ( Resources Numbers are made up ) , if KAV uses only 10Mb memory but 10% of your CPU time while NOD uses 15Mb memory and only 1% of CPU time; Which one is using least resources usage? To me the answer is very clear, but different people may have different interpretation of "low resources usage".

Sorry to be slightly off topic but from time to time it is good to clear things up.

    Back to 2.7

I have to agree on scanning speed has improved as well. NOD was already one of the fastest scanning AV before 2.7 and this surely makes it the fastest? :D

Very Smooth on my Vista RC2. No problem experienced so far. I dont know if they did anything to web scanner but i no longer experience the slight lag in displaying web pages.

Anti-Stealth technology - very nice tech to keep us save from rootkits :D

Apart from the slow start up ( Which has already been mentioned ) 2.7 is working nice on my machine

I agree, resource usage may be slightly up for some down for others but who cares? as far as i am concerned v2.7 is faster on my machine and very slick..

Yep, I had to dump the beta and roll back to the previous version. Greenborder and Nod work fine so it is in the beta, hope they resolve it soon.

    Good work, ESET Team!

I just install it on the last night, and it is working well, like always, until now...

I will try the new feature Anti-Stealth later...

The "old" NOD32 was slower than FSIS2007 (on my system).
This one with Counterspy beta is faster than anything and gives no problems .
My computer is in the hands of 2 beta releases and a hardware firewall.

Installed last night. Checked "Use Current Settings" and the install went off without a hitch. Took only seconds to upgrade. Memory usage is only up by 2 MB on my machine, (virtual size is 111 MB according to Process Explorer) and I haven't noticed any drag in performance. I've just been playing FEAR: Extraction Point with NOD in the background, and there was no performance hit in the game at all. This is hands down the best AV for gamers I've ever seen. Scanning is fast, and NOD is getting along fine with Comodo, Prevx1, and Regdefend. Thanks for a great AV, and I look forward to the suite, can't wait.

I've installed the beta without any previous version of NOD32 on my computer, but I can't update because I don't have a username and password.
I see that it might work if I install a trial beforehand and then the beta on top, but I'm running Vista, so can't install version 2.5 trial.
Is there a trial username and password I can use?

    Hi codam,

You should try the trial version of the Beta - it has a username and password already embedded.

    Cheers :)

I have installed it. So far... only the RAM used seems to be a little increased. I"ve seen nod32krn going to 39 MB, but generally it stays to 22 MB. :) Scanning is faster and AH seems to be improved... another build different from 2.5 one.

No, you're not. In our haste to get things, sometimes we just overlook the obvious.

Installed Nod 2.7 over the top of 2.5 and it's running great with no problems.

I downloaded it from the link posted by Marcos but it did not generate any user name or key and i am unable to update it.
I don,t feel any good. Why a key for the beta?( very brilliant idea for a beta).
How to update it now as it is asking for the key.

    Hey,

maybe on your system but you're wrong!

In my system KAV 2006 uses below 10 MB RAM most the time, while NOD32 uses above 15 MB (v2.5, 2.7 little more..) most the time and the amount don't change between different "task managers" so much on my system and all that after a clean boot, so they need to rework and optimize in this area..

Code optimizing and improved memory handling is really needed and important here. :cautious:

And they really claim, believe me!

And what about this here?! o_O , look:

    http://www.eset.com/products/index.php
    (at bottom):

    And again here:
    http://www.eset.com/products/compare.php
    (at bottom with graph)
    (direct link: http://www.eset.com/products/compare.php#smallest)

So, they claim themselves usage of RAM between that what I already said and again, other products, like Kaspersky Anti Virus 6 aka 2006 uses lower RAM, their RAM utilization is below 10 MB..! :p :isay:

    Think about it..

    best regards,

Lets say that Antivirus X uses less physical memory... who cares? This is one metric. NOD's engine throughput is massive by comparison to others which is more important then a couple of MB more RAM consumed.

Running good in WinME here. Installed over the top of 2.5 and kept settings (no need to re-enter username/password). System scan took several minutes less than with 2.5 (from about 27 minutes down to about 20).

System performance seems to be just as good as with 2.5, which is excellent. Memory usage is slightly higher, from about 10MB with 2.5 to about 10.76MB with 2.7 Beta.

Removing advanced heuristics and old threat signatures would save a couple of MB :)

    Just kidding
