I am looking to move up to a rule based firewall - (no probs with LnS)

which one would you people recomend? (obviously has to offer great detection). it must have outbound control. IDS feature would also be an advantage.

    nothing to scary please!

i think LnS would fit ur description. i dont know of many rule-based firewalls with outbound protection. CHX lets u create outbound rules but theyre not bound to applications. is kerio a rule-based firewall? if so u could give it a try.

Look'n'Stop is a rules based firewall, so it's not entirely clear what you're looking for.

In case you didn't notice, go to the "Application Filtering" tab and double click on any application. You can create specific rules there quite easily. The internet filtering rules also apply to outbound connections.

Right, but the topic of the thread implies that he/she is currently using LnS, and looking to "move up" to something thats... rule based...
