I have noticed a strange behaviour on my Windows 7 64bit PC that brought me to replace all those 0.0.0.0 with the old 127.0.0.1

Looking at the network activity tab in Process Hacker ( http://processhacker.sourceforge.net/ ) I saw that there were a lot of references to the first item in the Host list that had the association with 0.0.0.0

In a few words that's how it looked my HOST file
In the Network tab of Process Hacker in the column "Local Address" there were lots of meccahoo.com references
Just as if somehow it was Windows that associated 0.0.0.0 to meccahoo.com and not the other way round (that is, associating meccahoo and all the other entries to 0.0.0.0)

When I typed meccahoo.com in the address bar I discovered that I could access that site o_O and that it was not redirected.

Could you check if you have the same behaviour with your first entry?

As discussed at the last MVPS Hosts announcement thread -
Changing them up as you clearly stated you have alters the intent of the Hosts file. You may comment to the authors blog entry as to why this is happening in your particular case as this is the one method queries will be replied regarding this file.
