    wow Big-Deal? - No.
He could not improve F-Prot's heuristic against eset and avira's heur so this doesn't matter.
He will do the job at Sunbelt but it will improve just a little bit, not much at all.

What kind of comment is that? I would never under estimate anyone, especially the experts here. You need to be more open minded. Do you think one person is going to change everything? I am sure the move was more than enough.

He helped develop the initial versions of Comodo Antivirus. AFAIK Comodo was before he joined Eset and F-Prot....

Ok, what you people think about f-prot after he left it? Once he had made big claims about the future of f-prot. Now all is gone.

afaik he worked also for avira (before comodo?). the maximus etc. heuristic of f-prot was an improvement i would say.
anyway behind a product/company is more than 1 person, so he is not the only one who decides about what gets done and responsible of "success" or not.

He never made claims. You cannot judge a software by one person. There are far more things involved with any AV.

I've never made big claims. And who says "all is gone"? Bullshit. I say it now really the last time: Folks, please do not associate Products with People! People have their own life and do what is best for them and their family. Thus, changing a company has NOTHING to do with "wasn't able" or something. Do you guys have any idea how many people changed recently the company? Peter Ferrie went from Symantec to Microsoft together with a couple of other well known guys etc. And just because we do work in the computer security business doesn't mean we shouldn't have our own lifes!

He worked for Avira immediately after his stint with Gladiator AV. Now I dunno if Comodo came after that or before that....:)

In any case, it should be clear that changes or improvements take time, and a single person cannot take on the job of a full team. But at the same time, considering the Inspector's technical experience and expertise, we can indeed expect a few changes (improvements) over time. But time will tell :)

Indeed, this is good news for Sunbelt Software though (and good news for the inspector as well, a fresh change)! :)

Very much agree. I am sure you went through a lot not just for yourself but for your family. I really respect that!

No, nothing is gone. Products are designed and upgraded with a particular vision/goal, and as long as the product remains, those goals are achieved regardless of who works there and who doesn't. In the end, you must realize that its business and its people's lives - people will take that career path which gives them the maximum benefit (as the Inspector explained) for themselves and their families. As for the companies, they will continue along the intended vision regardless of who leaves and who joins the company.....(unless that vision is changed, or a significant portion of the development team moves out with no replacements, but thats a different story):)

So no, nothing is lost for F-Prot.....

You mean the scanner which opened malware instead of analyzing it.....
    Interesting. Extreme agility.
Probably you don´t know his effects of the past.
What do you want to say with this statement exactly?

From the ice belt to the sun belt -- makes sense to me. I wonder if the Inspector will move to Colorado?

In any event, FP is better now that it was before. With IC aboard, I foresee great progress ahead for both him & the Vipre. I shall henceforth keep a watchful eye there upon.

That is correct. However, there is still a tendency to associate products with certain personalities. If you removed Bill Gates from the annals of MS history, you would have another person to throw tomatoes at. :D LOL MS then might have a different corporate image than it does now.
For example, many securities funds in the US are managed by either one person or appointed team that directs the fund investments. When the fund does well, the reputation of that individual is enhanced and many new investors flock into the fund to add their money. When the leading person in the group leaves and takes another job or retires, the investors start to get nervous and think the future performance of the fund will suffer due to the managerial change. Each individual has his/her own style and vision. When that person leaves, people think the style and vision will go out with that person. Of course, the investment company tries to assuage the investors by ALWAYS stating that the "new" team will carry on the old tradition. :shifty:
