Since there doesn't seem to be much structure in the Bug Reports in this Forum I decided to start my own list of bugs and flaws i discovered in NOD32 v2.0:

    1. NMS cannot be disbaled ... after unchecking it in the control center it will be activated again after the next reboot. If there is an option to save wich components are loaded on startup i haven't found it ...

    2. AMON ignores certain files in the Explude list and scans them anyways. I was not able to keep AMON from constantly wasting ressources by scanning "ServUDaemon.ini" ... it doesn't matter if I exlude the directory it is in or the file itself. The only way to keep AMON from scanning it is deleting "INI" from the "scanned file extensions list". Excluding cartain .dlls and .exe files or other folders eems to work find though ...

    3. You cannot save the settings to the profile AMON uses when you open it from the right click on file context menu in he explorer. I really don't know why AMON uses a different profile and differnet settings anyways, if it is startet form the Explorer context menu extension anyways o_O

    4. Why is there no option for "clean automatically and display warning message". If I want a local warning message I have to select "prohibit access and display warning panel"! I think this is a security risc ... I want AMON to first clean (and/or quarantine, if cleaning fails) and THEN warn me!

    5. AMON causes constant short freezes as already posted here:
    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=7305

I hope this list is helpful and you can confirm and fix thos bugs :)

Here are detailled information about the machine I'm using to test the beta:

    My System configuration:

    Windows XP professional
    Pentium II 350 Mhz
    320mb RAM
    Logged in with Admin rights

My System is a client in a LAN, I use some network drives and I'm connected to Internet over a gateway on the LAN.

I use NTFS compression on parts of my harddrive that I use for storing audio, video, picturs and documents. Program Files are not compressed.

Detialled list of programms running in the Background:

    - Kerio Personal Firewall 3.0 (beta 5)
    - Serv-U 4.1.0.3
    - DirectUpdate 3.5.6 (DynDNS Updater)
    - Proxomitron 4.4

    - MSN Messenger 5.0.0543
    - Messenger Plus! v2.01.22
    - ICQLite build1068
    - TVgenial v3.0 beta5
    - Klipfolio v2.0
    - Task-Manager (comes with Windows XP )
    - Babylon Translator v4.0
    - Daemon-Tools v3.29
    - InCD v3.50.20.0

    - DVD Region Killer 2.7 by Elby
    - WinTV Remote Control Application by Haupauge
    - Versato v1.9 (for the additional Buttons of my Keyboard)

    more or less constantly:

    - latest eMule version

    Hi Gott,

    >Since there doesn't seem to be much structure in the Bug Reports in this Forum

I wrote something about it here.

    >1. NMS cannot be disbaled ... after unchecking it in the control center it will be activated again after the next reboot. If there is an option to save wich components are loaded on startup i haven't found it ...

There is such an option in the install setup.

    >2.I was not able to keep AMON from constantly wasting ressources by scanning "ServUDaemon.ini"

Could you give us a full path to that file, if possible?

    >3. You cannot save the settings to the profile AMON uses when you open it from the right click on file context menu in he explorer. I really don't know why AMON uses a different profile and differnet settings anyways, if it is startet form the Explorer context menu extension anyways

Didn't you mean NOD32 on-demand scanner? This can be executed from the context menu. Please describe the problem even closer, if possible.

    >4. Why is there no option for "clean automatically and display warning message". If I want a local warning message I have to select "prohibit access and display warning panel"! I think this is a security risc ... I want AMON to first clean (and/or quarantine, if cleaning fails) and THEN warn me!

We will consider it - anyway I think Amon is very reliable in prohibiting access to the infected objects - when the NOD32 virus database updates are REALLY THE LATEST. :)

    Checking that too.

    Thanks. :)

    Jan, just some observations...

    1) I'm sure it's already been reported that even if you DO NOT tick to install NMS it still installs this, I have found this and each time my machine reboots it is running, even if I have turned it off in the CC.

    3) Is the On-demand scanner problem I reported... my last posting here I believe explains the problem... http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=7231

    5) UPX compressed files issues again - can't wait for this fix! :)

    Regards,

    Fedorov.

I know, but since there is no topic for each of the problems I ran into and I didn't feel like opening 5 threads at once, I chose this form of bug report. Sorry if this causes any inconvenience. All the other bug-reports don't match the recommendet strucure either.

Yes, but as already reported that option in the setup will be ignored (in beta1 and beta2). NMS is installed and startet anyways. Deactivating it in the control center will disbale it until the next reboot - this should be permanently until activated again.

    The full path is:

    "C:\Programme\Serv-U\ServUDaemon.ini"

"Programme" is the default "%program files%" path on a German Windows XP. Wich should explain my far from perfect English, too. :)

Excluding this path or the file has no effect, AMON will still scan it frequently, anyways. Maybe this is caused by the "-" in the path name ?

Yes, that's what I meant. Sorry for that, I was tired when I wrote it. Of course it is not AMON but the On-Demand scanner. If the scanner is startet from the context menu, it uses it's own "startet from context menu" profile ... witch cannot be saved! The scanner, ebven if started form context menu, should use the profile selected and saved in NOD32.

The problem: If a virus is found it should be removed as soon as possible - but I still want to be warned if a virus actually made it on my harddrive. I know that AMON will prohibit access ... but for example if something keeps me from selecting an option in the current warning dialogue - for example a bug or freeze caused by another programm, a DirectX programm or game or even NOD32 itself, than I will have to reset and boot into an "infected" system. Of course this still isn't to dangerous either, since the virus probably wasn't executed, but I would have to waste time scanning the whole harddrive with the on-demand scanner.
I wuld really like to see the option of automatic cleaning and still warning me, i. e. telling me that NOD32 found and cleaned an infection ... in every component of the scanner (IMON, AMON and - weel i don't actually need it, but it would be consequent - NMS).

Thank you very much for taking all reported issues so serious ... I really enjoy beta-testing this software :D

I think it's worth pointing out that beta 2 still bugs you to make Outlook your default mail client at all the same points that version 1 did - since Eset's website actually mentions this error in a FAQ and promises that it will be fixed in a future release, I thought it would be a shame if it managed to slip into version 2...

You can eliminate some of the Outlook warnings by unchecking MAPI in the setup. However, then you run into the problem Gott points out:
When started from the context menu, NOD32 goes back to the default setup with MAPI checked, and there's nothing one can do about it.
