I'm looking for some Av's that I can just open up, update and run without it hogging resources in memory, something like GAV.

    Thanks.

For a very simple (and free) on-demand (only) virus scanner, I use F-Prot for DOS(link). It is perfect for scanning a file or folder using the command prompt.

You can use almost any AV and just not install or load the resident monitor. If you don't load the monitor on bootup, no resources are used by it, even if it is installed.
