hi everyone, new here and just have a queery re KAV and these 20 virus files it detected.

i recently installed KAV personal pro, and i ran a full system scan just now, and it detected 20 dangerous "viruses" or whatever these are, and most seem to derive from the "java" folder + a few others. i just wanted to know why does this java seem to be so troublesome and why is it on our pc if it seems to always have these nasty files in it.

a sample of the bugs KAV detected

    trojan downloader.java.open connection.aj (x4)
    trojan downloader.java.open stream.c (x3)
    trojan.java.classloader.h (x2)
    trojan.jave.classloader.d (x2)
    trojan.java.classloader.c (x1)
    backdoor.win32.sdbot.xd (x2)
    trojan downloader.js.istbar.j (x3)
    trojan downloader.istbar.k (x2)
    trojan downloader.win32.ani.c (x1)

where is the best place to go to identify these viruses, or should i go to the KASPERSKY website to check them out.

    cheers everyone.....GLEN

btw, i ran the 2006 beta 222b but had a few small issues or bugs that i didnt like so i re-installed my KAV PP 5.0 but im hoping the propper release of KIS 2006 in jan or feb will be as good, or better than the current Kaspersky products. i tried nod32 trial as well but hated the interface and just wasnt as good as Kaspersky IMHO.

They aren't that dangerous, except possibly that SdBot.
You may want to check with some other AV just in case if there is anything else since you have lots of downloaders...

hi again, and thanks for the replies.

i took a look at some stuff relating to the trojans, but not a lot mentioned about the ones relating to the java files.

i think the backdoor virus is obviously the worst of them all, and was thinking it must have been on my pc for a few days or more, cos i installed kaspersky 2 days ago and i would have thought kaspersky would have detected it if i got that backdoor one while kaspersky was installed.

i also run spy sweeper and ewido 3.5 on my pc as well.

i dont run an ext software firewall, i have my netcomm adsl router (firewalled) and windows xp pro firewall up, maybe some think this is not enough as far as firewalls go, but i just got sick and tired of all the hassles when i was running software firewalls before (used zone alarm, and then used the firewall module of bitdefender client pro 8.0 that i was running till recently.

    anyway, thanks for the replies......GLEN
