    Hello folks,

Well I am currently trialing NOD32 and KAV Personal 4.5. I have finished my initial tests with NOD32 and started looking at KAV.

I use Eudora as my mail client and am having a problem with KAV when used in conjunction with this. I have mailed myself the various Eicar test files and when receiving the mail KAV tells me that the temporary spool files are infected rather than a particular message. Furthermore the infected file cannot be downloaded to be cleaned or deleted and hence just stays on the mail server. Is this a known issue? The web site states that it supports Eudora but nothing else.

    Thanks,

    Morpheus

    Hello folks,

Just in case anyone else comes across this problem the solution seemed to be to uncheck the "Plain Mail" option which allowed the mail to be downloaded. After which when I attempted to open it KAV warned me of the infections and gave me the various options for dealing with it.

It does look like it was detecting the message before Eudora had a chance to process the *.tmp files it was
downloading hence blocking these and stopping Eudora from successfully completing the download from the server and then deleting it from the server after it had finished the download.

At present I think I am leaning towards KAV over NOD32 bar any serious problems because of the better unpacking support, outbound mail checking, and script checking.
