Just did first scan (Full) 110Gb of used disk space in which KIS 2014 analysed 528,389 files, etc., in 1 hr 23 mins...that is faster (in fact quite a bit faster) than the same scan with KIS 2013.

If that is of help to anyone? :D

I would say that re-installing the whole OS because one have uninstalled an AV is a bit too much, even if the AV leaves loads of stuff behind.

After you have uninstalled the AV simply look for leftovers like folders, but also drivers that may still be installed, then you uninstall the drivers/s if there are any drivers left. But you need to know the drivers names so you know what to look for and uninstall the right one/s.

If desperate one can also get, from the KL website, the KIS/KAV Remover app that will scour your system and remove any traces left over.

the installer available via kaspersky's site hasn't been updated to reflect the inclusion of a patch (it usually lags behind a little) - I'll download it again once the installer is updated to reflect the patch. not terribly interested in reliving the mess i was left with after removing the original release build.

That is useful but when I installed the unpatched version the first update that ran automatically updated my installation with the 'a' patch.

cool. i'll grab it and give it a whirl. i checked the product page for "download product" or whatever it is on kaspersky's main site. file's ~15MB larger than the original one.

Using KIS 2014. Light on system, but I noticed a slowdown on web browsing.

It is one of the most thorough uninstallers of any AV vendor as well.

are you noticing the slowdown from when you press "enter" after entering a url, or clicking on a link til the page actually starts to load? like there's a pause or delay before the page loads?

That's what I hate about security products with stream scanners. Everytime I'm experiencing issues with slowly loading videos or websites, I'm wondering if it's the stream scanner or just the server on the other end. If I use protection software without this "feature", I can at least rule it out. It's a shame, because Kaspersky is so far ahead in certain aspects, yet you don't get that without getting all the other "gifts" as well.

Yes, there is a delay before the page loads. And it loads a bit slower too.

Not seeing that here. For me browsing seems a little quicker than with KIS 2013. o_O

The more they 'dumb' this product down, the further away from buying/renewing I am.

I think where they are at now is awful.

    Goodbye Kaspersky.

I have difficulty in understanding what people want...something that offers rock solid protection and is light on the system it is protecting...or something to play with, etc.?

    I just don't understand...:doubt: :doubt:

yeah, that's precisely what i noticed with 2014 + chrome, IE or FF. experienced a nearly imperceptible performance impact on browsing with the 2013 product.

also noticed that the "application control" context is /extremely/ slow to load (renders the UI completely unresponsive) with 100+ profiled executables. i'm guessing it freezes while pulling prevalence data and stuff. the same context in the 2013 product loads instantaneously.

That is interesting as when I try that on my system there is a lag between clicking and the load completing but it is no more than 1-2 seconds...and I have some 170 profiled applications. Yes, 2013 was faster but in this area 2014 is different and IMHO more functional.

I know that I may well be called a fan boy by some but IMHO the initial release of 2014 is better than the initial release of 2013...at least on my system.

I am interested to know if there is any videos showing the new key combination used to stop ransomware and how effective it is.

FWIW, I've tried samples from two different ScreenLocker families and the key combo doesn't work. I haven't looked at it in great detail as to why that is.
