Hi everyone, I have an HP laptop with Eset Security Suite 5, firewall and antivirus...I am planning on taking my laptop with me on vacation a long way from home and I plan on connecting like to a wifi hot spot (cafe) or most likely in a hotel where I have a different IP. I haven't done anything like this before, because I always use a wired connection at home to my router and then to my cable box, so I haven't used Wifi before. I have a wifi adapter in my laptop, just never used it. I know there are some security concerns with wifi and that is why I have shyed away from it. So now, I need to find out if ESET firewall will protect me if I connect wirelessly. How do I make sure nobody can hack into me or attack me with malware or virus' if I am connected to a wifi connection? Are there a set of ESET instructions on how to do this so I am protected? Would like your advice on what to do, what I should be thinking of or need to do. Thank you.

In short, Follow steps 1-3, 5-6 of the following KB Article and set the protection mode to "Strict Protection" while using any 'public' wi-fi connection. Reset to 'Allow Sharing' once you're home again.

    1. Open Smart Security window and hit the F5 key for Advanced Setup
    2. Expand 'Network' and 'Personal Firewall' and click 'Rules and zones'
    3. In the 'Trusted Zone', click 'Setup'
    4. Select 'Strict Protection' and click OK. Click OK again and close program window
