How do i disable Nod system date check?

My CMOS battery is long ago drained, and I don't really care.

So how do I disable Nod's 2.5's warning "INCORRECT SYSTEM DATE" at each startup? (it also seems to freeze the bootup procedure until I click "OK")

umm no disrespect, but what's this about, emailing you my license? is this required to participate in the forum? eset never told me that this is necessary, so i'm somewhat hesitant to email this to a non-eset email address.

Perhaps enabling silent mode in the NOD32 system setup could do the trick in your case. However, with an incorrect system date set NOD32 will not be able to determine whether your definitions are up to date.

 

as Marcos pointed out, with your cmos battery out, your date/time setup incorrectly, NOD32 doesn't have a reference date to know if your threat protection needs to be updated - that's just how NOD32 works, it uses the date.

I'm sure there are other parts of the system and your software that use this date for valid update reasons etc, you're crippling your system by not doing this minor maintenance - UNLESS - if you have a permanent internet connection (DSL, cable etc) - you might consider setting an nntp server so that your date/time are fixed every time you reboot by syncing with an internet time server.

So I have to wonder - for the want of a battery worth a dollar or 2, you're potentially leaving your machine at risk.... does that sound sensible to you?

this isn't going to get round licensing for nod32 though - due to the username/password authentication, but yes, date enabled systems I've seen in the past including trials could be fooled this easily... but at what cost would you gain something if you cripple your protection systems?

 

Some people will go to any length to avoid paying for software,would the trial of NOD run indefinitely/update ok, with cmos battery "flat" or would it just not work at all?:-not something I am prepared to try myself to find out!Marcos?

I bought a new battery today (thanks, webyourbusiness, i never knew it was THAT easy to change!) and I'm now good to go. But rather than "a dollar or 2" it was $4.99 plus tax, those Circuit City buggers!

I don't know about the indefinite trial or whatnot, but I do in fact have a purchased license, FYI. And I'm so consistently pleased with Nod32 I've never been happier to pay for a piece of software,.

glad you got your battery sorted - sorry if Circuit City charged that much - I based my pricing on ebay - which is where I bought my last load of those CR2032 batteries - I got a pack of 10 and shipping for about $5, but I needed 4 within the space of a week coz a load of our PCs were bought at the same time!
