how can i avoid being ddosed w/ skype?

hi everyone
i'm new here. i use skype and i use it a lot. my job requires me to stay online on skype for hours. and i don't have an option to reject a contact request, it's my job. i always get ddos'ed because attackers find my ip through skype resolvers and my internet connection dies, i drop offline.

so what are the most extreme precautions i could take in order to hide my ip, and what precautions should i take in order to stay anonymouse on skype?
is there a skype fork so i can use it to get in touch w/ skype users but also keep my privacy at top level?

and please recommend free options first.

EDIT: a friend of mine told me to use free proxy servers like hide my ass' free proxy list and set skype's proxy settings every few hours. is that a good precaution? or would it breach my security?

I'm not following...how can you be anonymous if you're constantly getting contact requests which your job requires you to accept?

It sounds like being available for contact (and for new people to find you) on Skype is part of your job. Wouldn't being anonymous defeat that whole purpose?

I mean, if you wanted to be "anonymous" on Skype [i.e. not have the Skype account associated with you personally], you could simply create a new account and not tell anyone that it is yours.

 

i think you just missed the point. i'm talking about using a proxy server's ip order to stay anonymous to contacts, not hiding my skype id.

EDIT: i'm not worried about revealing my personel info on skype, the problem i'm having is i get ddos attacks so i need to hide my ip on skype and stay anonymous that way.

i don't know, umm, for starters, maybe because some of them are located in china? or in some other suspicious and untrustworthy country? is that a good enough reason for you? because for me it is. i work for a trustworthy company as a freelancer and rivals always try to drop me off the net by ddos'ing or stuff, you know.

if i use a reliable vpn service, would wanna-be-hackers still be able to resolve my ip address using strong and sophisticated skype resolvers, and thus be able to perform ddos attacks on my connection to drop me off the internet?
i've been trying to find a solution for this problem, but i couldn't get it confirmed.

some bad guys either on my contact list or not (i have a very huge contact list due to my job as an online representative) get my ip on skype either by skype resolvers or by inspecting their net traffic with special tools. and they constantly attack me and kill my entire internet connection.

i've performed and extensive research on this problem and learned that this is caused by the skype software itself, because when you accept someone as your contact then they get to be able to learn your ip by using aforementioned methods.

so my question is regarding that problem with skype revealing my ip be ABSOLUTELY ended by using a vpn service?
