I tried to install Acronis without allowing it a connection to the Internet. It wouldn't get past the registration part. I couldn't skip it.

Is there any way around this?

In fact, I couldn't register at all even WITH allowing it a connection to the Internet because Acronis' website it down right now. So at the moment it's impossible to install the program!

If there is no way around this, then this is the first program I have ever encountered that doesn't allow an install without being connected to the internet.

What if my disk crashes, will I be able to perform a restore without a connection to the internet? I would sure want to be able to do that.

What version of ATI is this? Though I don't recall the installation process exactly, I never needed to register as part of the install process for either version 9 or 11. I ended up registering at my own convenience from my Web browser. Also, if the installation software had tried to connect to the internet from my PC, my firewall would have alerted me, and I would have denied it access. So you sure there's no way to skip the registration screen or skip registration from the registration screen?

Also, no internet access needed for any of the backup / restore functions.

I think the trial version requires internet access and registration to install.

The retail versions don't require internet access for installation.

Off site tech support is so hard because people don't tell you what is essential - like what they are doing or seeing.

In this case, the key info was that a Trial version of TI 11 was being installed. Until MudCrab brought that up, I was just scratching my head and wondering what was going on.

    Hello ericfree,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We are sorry for delayed response.

As noted by MudCrab, trial versions of Acronis True Image do indeed require online registration during the installation process.

If you experience problems with that, please send us a Private Message. We will provide you a special trial version that does not require online registration.

    Thank you.

I also get the registration error. But then I also tried to PM you as per the post before this one, and I got a "The private messaging system is currently unavailable".
