    Solved! Thanks Ronjor :)

    Hi,

I just installed the Gmail Notifier from Google and I sent a test email to my Gmail account from my other email account as a test and it has not prompted me of recieving it. yet, when I check for new mail, the email is there. I turned off my firewall which is Windows Firewall to see if that was the problem, and its not.

Could anyone tell me why this might be happening, and also, if theres any other programs that can do this same thing? (notify of new mail in a gmail email account)

    Thanks,

    Gracie :)

Don't turn off your firewall Gracie. :D If using Firefox, the Gmail extension will notify you if you have mail.

You can also try Pop Peeper

    It sure did :D

Just curious, do you know how long it takes for the notifier to check in at Googles servers for new mail?

Look in tools, extensions, Gmail notifier, and you should have options for the time.

Ron, I am not using Firefox but the program for Windows XP to sit in the system tray. I do not see anything like that anywhere, or even how to adjust the time or see the time :doubt:

Whoops. You're using the Google notifier. In that case, use it for a few days and tell us. :D

Okay, and just curious... I was talking to a friend and he said that the person that sends you a invite for a Gmail account is able to terminate your account but he's not sure if this is true or not. Apparently, someone else said they heard that.

Is this true or is it only Google that can do such a thing?

    Thanks again Ron!!

    Ok Ron, thanks :).

Sigh... it says its still in beta... I wonder how long it takes for them to make it available for anyone who wishes to use their service. It seems like its been Forever.
