I use the pro version myself, I did start with the normal one though :p

I have pretty much replaced the old Task Manager built into WinXP with this.

Rates security of startup items. Can also be used in realtime to warn like WinPatrol does. Also has a process lasso like feature to limit CPU usage of back ground processes. List BHO etc.

Has less overlap with Mamutu than WinPatrol has (looking at your setup).

When used in real time, choose the network icon, de-select logging of processes started and shutdown (plus the process/thread shutdown protection), with all 'bling' removed it uses little CPU, otherwise it uses simular (or less) as Winpatrol Plus optimised.

How is it different that WinPatrol? If I have WinPatrol Plus, do you think I would need AnVir or do they do the same things?

I know this is about AnVir, and it has real-time monitoring. But a-squared's hijackfree, although not real-time, it doesn't get enough attention, and it's free!

It seems the latest version has optional, pre-selected toolbar. Do remember to read all the options and uncheck not needed features when installing any software :)

Yes, it also contains (somewhat like) ads from Uniblue:

    uniblue.jpg

Once clicked Anvir opens your browser and directs you to the Uniblue "Instant Scan" page:

While it's not a real big deal. Some find it unwanted.

When you do not need the real time protection.

Autoruns from sysinternals is als great. It has an option to save the list. Later on you can compare lists and changed are marked. see pic

i have mamutu and avast for all my blcoking needs, winpatrol can turn off services and alerts when new services and gives u an option to add or not. and provides in-depth details about all those obscure places that malware can install as well.

Not bad for free, shame about the toolbar and links now. Their normal pricing seems alittle steep. For $89.95 :) you get some av and antirootkit. I tested the ark which if it does find anything tells you to use your av in safe mode.

Seems like a lot of people are still stepping into this dangerous GAOTD trap over and over again.

What trap? Putting individual software aside, I have downloaded several apps/games from there myself.

    No problems whatsoever.

Because spyware bundled software uses it as a cheap platform to get their goodies on your system.
