We have 3 laptops that we check out to staff and they travel extensively across country with them. All laptops are setup on our domain with each users login credentials. They have the added benefit of the use of a Sprint card and Citrix is configured for them so they can get email, etc while out of the office. Occasionally, the Sprint card is just not a reliable connection and they must use a wireless connection or wired connection at the hotel/business where they give their presentation.
The problem we run into, is that most staff get confused by the prompts from Eset Smart Security when establishing a connection to another network.
Is there a general rule, that I can set that allows any new connection to another network without these prompts?

It's really quite self explanitory, do they need file/printer sharing and or to be visible to other computers on the network?

If no, then just tell them to always select strict protection :)

as for what you really want, i have no idea, but maybe the above will help ya :)

I was hoping for no prompts, just for them to be able to connect the Cat5 cable, no prompts and use the internet. No print/file sharing needed. Most staff will either not use it and say it doesn't work (Internet)/or complain that they have to set something up.

Under Advanced Setup --> Personal Firewall--> Rules and Zones --> Trusted Zones --> Setup --> Advanced Settings, there is a checkbox for "Do not show the dialog..."

    Is that what you're after?

If I check this, will it work for any potential new network that we connect the laptop to? I was thinking that checking that option would either only disable the notification within that network but still allow prompts to a new network detected, or block any new connections altogether with no prompts like in automatic filtering mode?

My understanding is that checking the "Do not show the dialog..." box will tell ESET that you've identified all the subnets for which you need sharing to work., and that any new subnets detected will be considered "untrusted" without any user intervention.

I'm interested in hearing what you find out.
