I have worm guard version 5.1.2600.1106. I think think it's about 3 years old. I thought I might download version 3. I am wondering if I get a free upgrade and also if I need to delete the version I have before installing the new one. I would appreciate if you could answer me by email.

Hello CaroleHanson and welcome to the forum.

Your version surprises me highly. 5.xxx? Where do you see that?
we are on version 3, so if you like to get a fresh download with maybe some little fixes get that new one, uninstall the curtrent one, reboot, install the new one in the same place and you might like to reboot again and enable protection again.

BTW: take care you don't lose your keyfile ! you might like to copy that extra to a safe place just to be sure.

After installing and putting your keyfile back in place all should be again a working registered version.

Okay I am being stupid. I went to explorer and it says Worm guard 3 so that must be the version I have. I don't know why the other pops up. So that means I am up to date and safe from Blaster and w32.welchia?
Thanks for your help so far.

You can add the executable filenames like msblast.exe , teekids.exe and a few more to the blocked files list (must hunt for the exact names of the other variables and the welchia) although it is not really necessary as WG looks for code, not for names.
But important is too you patch your windows if you run NT/2K/XP as the w9x series are not vulnerable for this nasty,
and further make sure you have your firewall up and make sure the ports 69, 135, 445, 593, 4444 are blocked (i did for both UDP and TCP and incoming and outgoing traffic and i did for both trusted local and internet zone).
And of course you might like to scan deep and a few times extra --
and you mgiht like to have Port Explorer up to see immediately suspicious connections spy on them and block them if necessary and locate the places on your system they are using in such cases if ever would be possible to be on heavy protected fortress Carol at all!
Even if your system is not vulnerable for this one, never know if they could try to plant something nasty on your system to be used in an attack so keep it clean and scanned!

Thank you I will do just that. Can you tell me where I can find these files that I should block. I don't know where to look.

They should not be on your system, these are parts of the current internet infections on the loose we all are trying to protect for!
If you open WG you see bottom right a button "blocked files list" if you press that one, you see in the display on the right several files mentioned, and to which list you can edit the names of those executables if you like.
