com & parallel port problems

To anyone who might be able to help,


I have recently installed spybot and spyware blaster. I have two computers and they both have had their share of spyware. However, when I installed spybot on my old computer and disabled the spyware...my printer and com ports stopped functioning. I though it was just because its old, but when I installed and ran blaster on my new comp...the ports stopped working their too. I didn't know that these programs were so unstable, because all I did was block everything I found and I got these problems. I have restored and uninstalled all the programs, but my ports still won't work. Please help me if you can...I am spending so much time trying to restore my system.
