That article is about the new Chromebooks, not Chromebox. I haven't looked at those or their pricing.

 

True. Books and boxes. Hmm...

 

I think the original Chromebook were about 50-75 dollars too much. But I do think the pricing is fair for the Chromebox. I could be off, I really haven't bought a desktop and I have no reason to keep up with something so trivial as the price of low range desktop hardware. Based on the very quick amazon search I found very similarly priced hardware.

 

Funny, I remember a long debate we had about this where you were trying to convince me otherwise.

I doubt it.

Very probably; £213.09* plus VAT, plus mark up, plus other assorted taxes would push that price considerably higher in the UK. For that kind of money I could have a box made running Windows with the same specifications or very probably much more powerful.

Not so sure. The specs are pretty decent.

Like I said, I might be wrong, but I'd be surprised if you could get something much better for much less. Pricing just isn't something I care about or keep up with.

Let's also remember that Linux computers cost more than Windows computers (often) because of deals with OEMs.

 

I suppose it depends on who you know locally. Either way, I could get a decent box for about 250-270 quid running Windows. Why would anyone pay the same for an OS where they had to use Chrome as a browser & save all of their files in cyberspace? Especially now it seems Facebook aren't supporting Google Chrome any more, apparently.

 

There are benefits to ChromeOS just as there are pitfalls. Such is life.

 

I just reckon that if they could knock those boxes out much cheaper they might shift some.
