It is pretty good and I also got the 70% discount offer in email yesterday. Used in the past but not at present.

It's a UK product, and you can't opt out of sending "suspicious" files to them.

I believe it's Anglo-Swedish and uses the BitDefender engine and Outpost firewall, or at least it did at one time. It was very popular as being pre-installed on PC's in the UK a few years ago, often as a trial version. I used it about nine years ago and it seemed fairly light on an underpowered machine but I haven't used it since.

I last tested it a few months ago. I didn't like that you can only manually whitelist files, so I uninstalled it. Also, since I had tried it in the past, it would not let me trial it again using my exisiting Bullguard account (even though I was installing it on a different computer), so I had to make a new one using a different email address.

I can't really give you any more details, as they were the only notes I made about it. I've tested 60 antiviruses in the last few months, so it's hard to rememeber details which I haven't made a note of.

BullGuard was founded in 2002 by two entrepreneurs in Denmark , Morten Lund and Theis Søndergaard

Thanks, I knew it was something like that. I thought it was a decent AV, and it didn't seem particularly heavy on the system, when I ran it years ago on a small notebook, but times change.

Also the support was excellent (direct chat through the GUI).

Yes, I believe you're right about the support. In the UK it seemed to be replaced by McAfee and Norton as a pre-installed AV a lot after a while. The same thing happened to Sophos IIRC.

Using it on one of the computers here. It's surprisingly light even though I got the Premium protection. As far as behavioural goes, it seems to use some enhanced version of NovaShield. The Anti-Spam engine is from Commtouch. The Antivirus uses BitDefender with BD's Anti-Rootkit and full set of signatures (and heuristics). However, it does not use the BD Cloud or Active Virus Control from what I can see.

Firecat, you and I both use some of the AV products that haven't always gotten kind reviews: AVG and Bullguard. As far as Bullguard goes, I am running their Internet Security product on one system, and I have to say that it is also very light on this particular system even though this machine only has a 4th-gen Intel I5 processor. I have never had any infections (knock on wood) using either AVG IS or Bullguard IS, so I see no reason to stop running either one of them.

Yes, indeed, protection wise both of these are ironclad IMO and are perfect for users who are not very skilled in handling settings. There's also eScan which has never disappointed me detection wise, but the program updates are very slow, not automatic and bugs pop up from time to time.

I'm honestly surprised at how BullGuard does it's thing at such minimal system impact, even RAM usage is well in check compared to other solutions. I agree reviews are not stellar for both, but neither AVG nor BG has let me down in the time I've used them (and it's 10+ years on AVG now).

Does the latest version of Bullguard IS (v17.xx) comes with IDS for its firewall and attack protection like against arp spoofing?

    TIA

No, BullGuard transitioned away from Outpost to a layer on top of Windows Firewall. The IDS module will be added in an upcoming release, hopefully by the end of this year.

^Yes. It includes a new behavioural guard, I wonder if that means replacing NovaShield for BitDefender AVC.....let's see.

Hello, I would choose Bitdefender or Kaspersky, these two products are rock solid, their detection rate is excellent, and it covers all your needs.
PS. Very good support on both AV-Suites.:thumb:

Both are expensive, bloated, and have a history of being "Bug-Zan III". This isn't a thread about which product is better anyway. I'd choose BullGuard any day over those two. In olden days, BullGuard had a reputation as the "fixed" BitDefender.
