Iulika, does BDAV Free play well with Comodo Firewall?

 

Question is, how do you get it out of quarantine, and will it just quarantine it again if you don't submit it to BD?

 

You can't restore it because there is no exclusions system and without it, you can't really restore anything. It will get restored automatically when BD fixes the FP.

 

With the current build, it's my understanding that right now there is no restore option that the user can select. After each update the quarantine is scanned again, and in the event of a FP, the file is restored. It's also my understanding that they are working on this for a future update that will give the user more flexibility.

The free product is evolving nicely and the devs are listening to their customers. While they can never make everyone happy, they seem to be trying.....Again, this is a free product.

 

During install it still asks me to uninstall Malwarebytes?!
Why?

 

A number of AVs do this. Just hit "No Thanks" and it will be fine.

You have to wait until the new kits will be available, since the check is made in the installer itself
I expect that on Monday all the kits to be up-to-date

I am anyway enjoying it at the moment. Very fast, very responsive and a very nice gui.

 

BDAV free always says that Service Unresponsive and it need a restart. I restarted for a few times already and the problem retain. Even BDAV is not on my startup. I tried to repair the installation and still the same.

I'm running Windows 8 pro x86.

 

BD Free wont let me uninstall ZoneAlarm

 

I'm running Win7 x64 and having the same problem.
What I did is to uninstall first, then download the newest build of installer, then install again.
But now with the newest build installed, the "Updating..." issue still exists.

 

Yes, though BDF is using a different quarantine approach. It doesn't actually move the files into other location. Instead, it locks them down with a system driver. So theoretically, if anything goes really wrong you can just remove BitDefender and files will be released (and probably not actually deleted).

Unless Iulika0069 can explain how exactly their system works. But thats how he described it sometime ago.

I'm impressed with the product, after testing it on my Windows 7 Pro machine. It runs really light, I actually didn't notice it running (though, there are no other security apps installed, except EMET)

Had a slight glitch registering the product, but overall, it runs pretty smooth.

 

A question. After installing the 15mb or so installer, does it update a huge amount as an initial update? And what is the size of daily updates?

 

Can anyone clarify my problem?

I tried to test BDAV free using eicar file and it went well but why does BDAV free needs to restart the system just to disinfect the file while it is already quarantined? I thought it will disinfect infected files by quarantining them. Another problem that it takes a while to check for the disinfection status of BDAV free until I restart the system or restart the actual application.

One question. We can't hide the box on gui saying "X files has been quarantined"? or maybe when "Show files" is clicked it will just autohide.

 

Do you have another AV solution installed next to BD AV FREE?

 

no. Windows defender is disabled. What problem are you addressing to?

 

By the way: Are there any incompatibilities with Windows Defender?
