I think that's the 4'th avatar I've seen you with this week Trjam. I see you've come full circle again.

So many choices these days... can make one indecisive indeed.

Very soon he might have to reinstall the same suite again when there's nothing left to try, re-upload the same avatar, refresh the same sig. ...

Lol, full circle yes. Actually Computer Associates was the first I used, but dont like to brag about that. I did get my answers in the Avira forum to the other boxes I had not ticked yet. I do understand about the XP issues with SP3 and also have know the folks at Avira for a very long time. They wont sleep till all are happy. The have come to far for that.

I honestly like version 10 and encourage more to try it. And yes, there are a lot of choices today.

Mcafee was the first one I tried. Back then there were not many choices, and that and Norton were the only 2 I even knew of. The latter caused system instability on pretty much every system I saw it on, leaving me with only 1 option.

Somebody else said we are spoiled. They are right. Not only do we have so many good options now, but even good FREE options.

So Avira sends the statistics of every website you visit to googleanalytics.
    Or do I misunderstand ?

What's up with the silly German ads I see with Avira (security suite v10) ?

Of course it's just stats of notifier views, not "every website you visit". We have no interest in spying on you, that'd be totally against what we stand for.

Check the flyer link (near the bottom) here:
    http://www.avira.com/en/company/itsmig.html

While that doesn't quite fit the issue here, it may illustrate we take such things rather serious.

well, leave it to my son to test. Came and said his computer would not connect to the internet and sure enough a fake AV was installed and was not detected by Avira. It can happen, I guess. Not a peep out of it. Thank goodness for FD-ISR. I really hope their pro-active module will be just for this stuff. He has to be sandboxed.

I just read the explanation... You got to be kidding me, Avira needs web stats for pages that Notifier loads?

    @trjam

    You're kidding :D

Well it'd be good to know if his comp has ActiveX, Scripting, Java enabled. Because as you probably know, without those, or Clicking it's hard to get infected ?

Not so clean if you're not sure where he's been surfing :D

Rogues don't usually go for disabling the pc, rather just scare people into buying, wierd !

What is left unexplained (for me at least) is why everyone is bashing on AV-comparatives. What exactly is wrong with their test?

I chose to trade in NOD32 for Avira based on the results achieved there.
