I have the latest version of AVG as and can't update since 9-20-08. Has this program update been terminated?
I have seen questions on this forum asking why anyone wouldn't want to go to AVG 8.0. For me it is because I am required by my employer to use a company version of Mcafee antivirus and i can't mix 2 antivirus programs. I can, however have many AS programs, of which AVG is one. This seems like a very logical and obvious reason for AVG as to remain in existence.

Well manual updates are still being released (see here http://download.ewido.net/update/index.html ), so I assume so are the normal updates for AVG A-S. Don't have it installed at the moment here so I can't verify that.

Perhaps you have a firewall or something similar blocking AVG A-S from accessing Internet?

Well, I did forget to mention that I am using the free version of AVG AS 7.5.
I find manual updates confusing and have avoided them. Does anyone know whether there is a server problem or the auto updates have been terminated? Also, even if it is a server issue now, is it true that soon the free version will not be updated, manual or automatic?
    Thanks

Thanks for the link. What I see from the link is support will most likely end. based on a reply from a regular poster. I am hoping to see a post regarding this issue from an AVG official or moderator. Also, I would like to know if there is a server issue for auto update on avg as 7.5 as of now, or if there really are no updates available.

That is correct. The three "ewido team" members (karl.ewido, peter.ewido & vinzenz.ewido) are the official voice of ewido/AVG here at Wilders Security Forums.

    Hello,

we still release Signature updates for the AVG Anti-Spyware, also for the old ewido Software Versions. It is possible that currently the update Servers are busy, so we recommend to update the AVG Anti-Spyware at different times if you see an error message or if you see an error during update process repeat the Update process until the AVG Software download the updates. Sometimes the AVG Software downloads the latest Updates after the third attempt.
Or if you cannot download the latest updates via updater module you can also download manually the Updates from this site:

I have had many times in the past where AVGAS would not update until I had tried several times in a row. Lately there are many days it will not update at all. I finally just went ahead and uninstalled it and replaced it with another scanner. AVGAS 7.5 is soon to no longer be supported anyway as I understand it.

I installed it again. It was gone in the beginning just because I had to debug some KIS issue.

Call it sentimentality from a longtime user, but I will remove this only when updates finally cease.

Thanks for the replies. As I suspected, it was a server error, not an issue of updates no longer available. I have since been able to access autoupdate. Anyone with this problem, I guess persistence is the answer until the end of year termination of updates.
