Is avast! able to sandbox applications already running in Real Computer.
e.g. Virus Definition Update found the application running very suspicious and put it in Auto-Sandbox.
OR The Auto-Sandbox was re-enabled by user and it sandboxes suspicious applications already running.

No. If it is already running outside of the sandbox, that particular process can't be sandboxed, unless restarted. But, IF if it running in the real computer and the virus definitions are updated, it will be detected by the real time shields and you'll be asked to run a boot time scanning.

Actually the live malware should be covered by the Behavior Shield. But i still have doubts of its efficacy in default configuration at the moment. I've never seen it detect anything (ever) which sucks badly.

Does anyone notice any big changes in this version. Based on the changelog, it seems like a small update. The reason I ask is I'm trying to figure out if it is worth testing, or just wait for a bigger release.

    How?
Suspicious is also a reason for auto-sandboxing, and you said it would be detected by filesystem shield.

What factor determines shield blocking or sandbox isolation? Is that true?

It craps out on every program trying to use inbound connections (like the widespread PS3 Media Server for example). It pops up a "suspicious" screen, and it doesn't matter what option you choose, the program will run buggy, on my system even making javaw.exe giving you a nice bsod. So much for security, back to Panda, perhaps less secure, but at least not a completely ****ed up windows installation.

how about you work with avast to help solve problems instead of complaining. Ive worked with them with Sandboxie because it was having issues with the version 6 beta. worked with Plk

    Hi RejZor
Last thing I read about BSh was that it's supposed to trigger further analysis by one of the other shields rather than alert the user. Of course there could have been changes about which I remain ignorant. :doubt:

I actually have seen the behavior shield in action on my pc. I have set it up to Ask and it was a behavior alert. The next time I see one I will post it. Being a deveolper myself (business app/tools), I have many different types of connections to client servers. With vpn access, rdp, telnet etc etc... It's not common to see but I have seen it. Same with the autosandbox which I set to Ask also.

"Ask" is useless because it will trigger on every crap you do to the OS.

it is not difficult to trigger the asking dialogs by modifying the autorun registry entries.

More difficult is to trigger explicit notifications telling you a suspicious process was blocked.

I know we all what a security package to be as "turn key" as possible. But I have not had too many popups even with Ask on the Sandbox and behavior shield. I look at the statistics of the shield and notice it is analyizing something. If I get a popup from this shield I will post it. The nice thing about Avast is I can turn up the sensitivity level to high and check the pup programs but still get very low FP's. I give Avast a lot of credit for this. I've been using their AV's for a long time and sometimes I stray to another product but always find myself back with Avast. I don't know, maybe it's the little spinning ball. :D

You're not getting it during just usage. Try installing an average program like i don't know, Steam client or a CD burning software and you'll get the popups all the time during installation.

that happens with most programs like this.comodo was awful for it and other HIPS are the same.
Instead of knocking avast all the time,we should be grateful for what we do get with avast for FREE!!!.just be thankful they dont charge for it because it is most certainly worthy of commercial status.:argh: :argh:
