    User is now running AV 6.0.308.0. Unknown what happened post install.
    Install took place post license renewal. User now confirms that the
    Windows System Tray ESET ICON is gone. Yes, user can still get to
    ESET via Start/Programs/ESET. User wants the system tray icon
    back............... :mad:

    How does this user get the system tray icon back?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    1. On what system user is experiencing this issue?
    2. Is it just after installation of product?
    3. When he/she is opening eset panel - does tray icon not showing?

    Sorry that this may be too basic/obvious, but can you see if changing the "Customize Notifications" behavior has an effect.

    Start -> Control Panel -> Taskbar and Start Menu Properties -> Customize and then make sure the Behavior drop-down menu is set to "Always show".

    Otherwise, a reinstall would be the next step to test.

    @black_harry,
    Thank you for yet again reminding me to clearly state the OS in use! :oops:

    @lizardvdx,
    Well, no. This user gets very cranky about doing a re-install. I sort of live with this, because the user is family and senior to me! :blink:

    @Niels,
    Your link was memorable. I used it 2 weeks ago to recover my system tray. I shared it with the user. If the user does this, I just know I will hear about some 'other' issue! :(
    I agree with your other suggestions also. I shared this thread with the user after this problem. Perhaps the user will dabble for a look/see(?)

    @foneil,
    I do understand what you shared, but, I still see icons disappear that are set as 'always show'; so, I conclude there are other powers focused on the system tray. In any case, I did set my 'test' machine w/v6.0 AV this way.

    Thanks all! I do so like this forum..............:D

    You are welcome. A re-install of ESET is unnecessary, only when the egui.exe process isn't started. You can easily test if the protection is still active by using the EICAR test file.
