Running NOD32 v.2 on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise. AMON is set to load at startup. If i quit AMON and try to start it again, I get the following error:

Unable to load resident protection. :(

When I reboot the server, AMON is loaded again. There are no other memory resident scanners installed. Does anyone know what is causing this?

    TIA,

    Andropov

    Hi Andropov,

    Question:

You have enabled Amon to start at startup, can you explain why you want to disable Amon at a later stage??

Thanks for your quick reply, Martin. I am testing a few AV solutions, and I can have only one memory resident scanner loaded at a time, so I'd like to unload AMON from time to time, and the load it again, without rebooting. Apart from that, I just figure I am supposed to be able to reload AMON without problems. I am at a loss.

    Hi Andropov,

Well, i have noticed the same thing a work where we run another AV which give the same prob.

The only thing i can quess is that the resident scanner is depending on some important files which will only load at startup, so when you disable Amon while it is running and afterwards start it up again, for some reason Amon can't seem to find the file or files which are usually loaded together with Amon.

I quess this is maybe a reason for this issue.

Hope this might help a bit ;)

    Andropov,

Maybe one of the Moderators will provide you with a more indepth answer for this issue, but as it is weekend, they might probably respond to this during the new week.

And welcome to this forum Andropov ;)

    Martin,

your guess sounds reasonable, but, as you suggest, I will wait and see if some of the moderators have an understanding of what's happening. Thanks so far, Martin.
