I have been debating over Norton Ghost 10 and then I read the December issue of PCWorld and they say "True Image 9 Edges Past Norton Ghost 10, I read the article, decided to try TI 9, downloaded the trial version, which they say is fully functional, no it isn't, then I wrote asking a few questions, no answer yet, then I read this forum and have not found one good reason to buy TI 9, I have build 2302, which I see has been out for quite a while and still does not work properly. I can see why the 15 day fully functional trial version is not fully functional, they don't want us to know the problems until we pay for them.
Guess I'll have to start researching Ghost 10 now.

I wondered what had happened to that thread.

What shocked me was that Jon Jacobbi had published that article within a few days of having admitted to me that he had no direct experience with TI9 nor any modern hardware (like Pentium 760's) to test it on. He stated that he was always happy with his results from TI7 and TI8 and couldn't understand what all the complaints were about with TI9. He asked me to forward to him details of my experience/problems with TI8 and TI9 (I didn't even own TI9 at that time). I never supplied him with the details he asked me for. I figured then that he'd pooh-pooh anything significant because he had his mind made up about TI vs Ghost.

I wrote Harry McCracken (Executive Editor at PC World) about this ethics gap involving his top reviewer, Jacobbi, and he never replied. Big surprise. I think they were so embarassed by their slip that they dropped a curtain of silence around the whole incident. I let my subscription expire because I can't believe in PC World reviews of anything anymore.

My only comment about TI9 is that everyone here knows how disastrous this program has been to date. However, I truly believe Acronis will eventually make it right. In the meantime, there have been several threads where TI9 buyers were unhappy with TI9 and Acronis made TI8 available to them for use in the interim or gave them refunds. I can't think of what else they could have done to show their commitment to customer satisfaction.

Sure, they may have seriously blown it with TI9 but they have been trying to get it right ever since. I certainly believe they deserve whatever cooperation we individually feel is appropriate under each of our individual circumstances.

    Just one guy's opinion......
