Don't forget to add the following to the Excludes list:

    login.passport.net
    loginnet.passport.com
    windowsupdate.microsoft.com

(Sorry for posting here, Pieter, but I thought it was important)

Gee Pieter, I hope you realize that we can all read your mind. It seems that whatever you are thinking magically appears in these posts. Better watch those random thoughts! :D

No worries, I've set the ugly thoughts to appear in the background color. ;)
    Watch out!! Mindreaders
I'm actually using IE to test out the new options and liking it.

Thnx guys. Using the Adshield beta with the AGNIS list makes the internet experience like a paid-for movie channel. No commercials. :D

Is Adshield 3.0 a proxy? If so would it be safe to run with Poxo? Is it really buggy? How does Adshield 3.0 work woth XP and IE6.0? (lol so many questions, so little time). Is it still free?

    1) No it isn't a proxy - it works as a BHO (Browser Helper Object) so...
    2) Yes it is perfectly safe to run it with Proxo.
    3) I haven't encountered any bugs with 3.0 yet, myself (and the previous version also had rock-solid stability).
    4) I'm running AdShield 3.0 with Windows XP and IE 6.0 SP1 and not encountering any issues.
    5) Yep - it's still free.

    Hope this helps. :)

No, but it blocks popups, ads and webbugs. Don´t know. Not at all, very stable. Very well, got XP and IE6 myself. Yes, almost unbelieveable. ;)

    Hi notageek,

Give it a spin. I had one tiny problem the first time I installed it. The icon in the taskbar didn´t show up.
Other than that, I join javacool and Metallica.
I´m also using XP and IE6.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Anyone care to test if the Agnis list is not too big for the free version? Please let me know.

OK I see it has a trial Version, but it only allows a number of strings to the block list. I guess I'll stick with the older version cuz I can ad adds like crazy. :)

Well this is very sad - it seems as though AdShield has, as someone else put it, "left the ranks of freeware".

They still do offer a free "trial" version which, while allowing unlimited use, does pose some restrictions.

I'll be sticking with the last beta 3.0 version myself.

    Best regards,

Well, it is rather a little program to cost as much as it does but there's others out there that can do almost the same as Ad Shield. But I was one of the few that didn't think the final version would of been ready so fast so I decided to wait for afew to DL the beta. Plus I didn't know it was turning into payware. This is the reason donations to people that make programs like JavaCool and others are always for the best. ;) As for Ad Shield I'm sticking with version 1.2 lol and going keep on letting proxo take cre of the web bugs and other stuff Ad Shield 1.2 don't catch. I just hoep the new version of Proxo don;t got shareware. :)

SHAREWARE.....whats this?? Not surprised..was just a matter of time......
The agnis list will fit into adshield ver.3beta....however, after testing version 3.whatever.....got rid of it quick.....its bulky. Has a very small viewing window for the block list....an seems to be slow on its feet....didn't see any real advantage over the older version.....bells mostly

purchase it.......its a very nice program...an yet I have reservations about purchasing any program that the vendor "used" the public to make/test an never advised then it would go shareware. I would not denied any vendor making a living yet to use the public...not nice. No, I will never........never purchase it. Had the vendor stated upfront that the program would go shareware I would not make this comment.......an would consider purchasing the program.

By the way..the previously expressed view is solely my own....an not restricted to any one vendor or program......there are several programs I refuse to even consider because of my expressed view.

Would it be legal to distribute the last beta version?

Now that is a very interesting question... anyone else have views on this? (Personally, I would take a look at the license agreement included with that version.)

    Best regards,
