I downloaded TI 9 three months ago and it was garbage. It didn't work at all with windows 98 and gave me quite a few problems in XP.

have the errors been fixed? If I download Build 2337 will it finally work semi decently?

I've been waiting for stable, less buggy version.

Seems to be pretty good. Most problems seem to be with specific hw combinations or with the less mainstream features. The only way you are going to know if it works is to try it on your system.

Although I don't excuse Acronis for releasing V9 before it was well tested, I have to admit after reading this forum about all the different HW/SW configurations and how people work so differently to do the same task I have more understanding of the problems they face in doing comprehensive testing - such is the PC world.

    here's where I'm coming from
V7 worked great for me. I tried running v9 on the same configurations--nothing but problems. I'll give it another go.
hopefully they fixed all of the problems.

The only reason I bought V9 was to use an external REv drive that V7 didn't support.

Just browsing the forum to see if others had posted about slow backup to local disk using the Recovery CD, and came across this post..

I downloaded the 2337 build and installed it correctly yesterday. It ran Ok from XP taking the usual 30-odd minutes to backup a complete disk to Acronis Zone. Great so far, I thought..

This morning I tested using the CD Rescue Full mode - the message was 4 hours to do the same job as above! I let it run for 2 hours and it still hadn't got halfway, so I cancelled :-(

Still using the CD Rescue CD I tried Safe mode, as experience with an earlier 'slow' version of TI9 showed Safe mode worked fast. Well, it worked, but took twice as long as normal.

This is rather disappointing, as I reported this to support way back when TI9 first came out, and, after a month, received a CD Rescue iso which worked at the normal fast rate to a local Zone... so there are still things to be fixed I'm afraid.

I'm still testing, so for the time being will not report this through official channels to support.

    Hello Cintra,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Could you please let me know your Acronis request # (e.g. [Acronis #123456]) which can be found in the subjects of the letters that you received from our Support Team? I'll review the correspondence and see what we can do regarding this issue.

    Thank you.

TI9 doesn't run noticeably faster or slower for me doing full disk/partiion saves (to a HD) or restores, with image files that range from 10-20 GB. It's roughly a minute per GB give or take.

If a 30 minute job takes hours, there's an error loop running that's using up those clock ticks, that's not a back up or restore read/write speed.

    Hei Alexey

    It was Acronis #360886

The special iso build I downloaded is reported to be 2295. Thats what I trust my system to for now..

btw, when I run the latest TI9 build from XP, my two disks take typically 22 minutes each to backup fulldisk without verify, whereas backup from the 'special' Rescue CD Full mode takes about 29 minutes using the same options. This sounds almost as if either DMA isn't on, or is on with non-optimum options..

My experience using the 2337 rescue cd in Safe mode was a backup time of 37 minutes. Perhaps that is to be expected from Safe mode..?

When I ran backup from XP yesterday using 2337, my first fulldisk took 17 minutes, so I started backup of the 2nd disk and took a walk. When I came back there was an error message, which I didn't note down, instead I booted the special rescue CD, found my Acronis Zone had been emptied, and made two new backups.

I wonder, when backing up 2 drives in succession like that using XP, is it recommended to exit Acronis between them?

    regards

Edit: I found the error: Write error (0x70004);Error creating the file. (0x4000A)
