I am new to Acronis, I was an Ultrabac user for many years.

I am using Acronis True Image Image for Windows Server.

Both of my clients are running Windows Server 2003 Std Ed. with all current Windows updates.

Both clients were previously running Ultrabac and had no problem writing to the tape drives every night.

1 client is running a HP SCSI tape drive, the other is running an HP internal USB drive.

    How do I proceed ?

    Hello Byron Gustafson,

Thank you for using Acronis Server Backup software.

Firstly we would recommend you to make sure that the build your clients are using is the latest one. If this is not so they should download it. If the issue still persists after the latest build downloading or one which is used is the latest already please clarify whether the tape drives are not detected under Windows or under Standalone version of the program. As the different ways are used to operate with the tapes under Windows and under Bootable Rescue Media, the ways of issue fixing depend on what environment you run under.

    Thank you

The server with the USB tape drive is at the current level.

If I run windows backup it 'sees' the tape drive.

I will have to check the version of the other server.

    Thank you

    Hello Byron Gustafson,

We are sorry for delayed response.

Could you please clarify if tape drives aren't seen both in Backup Wizard and Restore Wizard of Acronis Bootable Rescue Media?

Please be aware that standalone version of Acronis True Image Echo cannot access backup archives created in Windows. The reason is that in Windows it uses RSM, whereas in standalone version there is a different mechanism.

To be able to access archives from standalone version, you should back up to the tape from standalone version. You can also use Acronis Backup Server to access tapes on a remote machine from standalone version. For additional information please see Chapter 3.5 "Acronis Backup Server" ofAcronis True Image Echo Workstation or Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server User's Guide.

    Thank you.
