    Hi all,

I was at Microcenter over the weekend here in Chicago and I saw NOD32 for $49.95. I thought thats pretty high, then I saw Smart Security for $80. Why is there such a jump in price between a retail store and online, (Taxes, markups, maybe?)

    Matt

Have you checked other retail stores besides that one?

In my area No local computer store or retail store sells the retail box version of ESET,Including best Buy.They seem to sell norton,Kaspersky and AVG.Besides onlne from Eset company you get nod32 AV 1 yr license $39.99 or a discounted 2 yr Lic for $58.99 USD.

    Hello,

The pricing for the retail boxed edition may be different than for the downloadable version, or perhaps the boxed was for a multi-PC or multi-year license.

    Regards,

Just go to the ESET site and download it. You can even save a few dollars if you buy a 2 year license. No big deal. ;)

The boxed version is $10 more than the download - that's MSRP.

There are two ways to get a CD of your software - and both cost money:

    1. buy the boxed version at $10 more
    2. buy the download and get a "backup CD" - they are available at checkout on our store and many others - $7.99

    There is one more way...

    burn the download to a CD-R/W - cost $0.10.

To be fair - I would use the 3rd option if it was my money. Especially as ESET updates the installer periodically... your CD is out of date within a few month, so you're better off doing it yourself and then throwing out the old CD when you burn a new one.
