So, most of the major security vendors have released their 2011 lineup. Have you tried any of them and what are your thoughts on them?

I am a little obsessed with the security and have to much time on my hands in the evenings so I have tried them all.

I have to say my choice is still Norton and I think their 2011 Internet Security has once again came a long way. Kaspersky is also good but I do not see much change in the software and features.

That is one security program I gave up on. Has it improved? Maybe I should try it on one of my machines.

All I remember is the constant nagging I got back when I used it even with changed defaults.

I sure can't agree that "their (Norton) 2011 Internet Security has once again come a long way"...

As an NIS2010 user, last week I noticed that a new version (NIS2011) was available for download. So after first backing up my system partition I removed NIS2010 and installed NIS2011. After exploring the new version I didn't find anything really new except for the GUI and frankly that didn't impress me. My big surprise came a few hours later when I restarted my system, noting that Windows found it necessary to check the disk for errors - finding hundreds of them!!!

Well. I restored the backup image I created immediately before embarking on this update, so all is now well and I'm back running NIS2010. I really don't believe NIS2011 is ready for prime time yet.

My vote is for KIS 2011
Kaspersky 2011 products have been improved too much in following aspects:
    1. Increased scanning speed, lower RAM usage, and lower CPU usage
    2. Improved sandbox technologies (Safe run for applications + websites) especially for x86 platform
    3. Improved HIPS and Proactive Defense. Less intrusive and more powerful. Automatic mode and better Application Control.
    4. System Watcher to rollback malicious actions
    5. Brand new, easy to use, and beautiful GUI
    6. Improvements in all components (Web AV, Parental control, Rootkit removal, and Components modularity for easy upgrading/patching without restart)

The only drawback is that they removed custom installation.
