Windows not shutting down

    I've recently installed Privacy Manager and since then my system won't shutdown, I have to power it off instead. I'm running XP Home sp2.

    Any advice would be welcome. o_O o_O

    Not sure which version have you installed 8.0 or 9.0. I had similar problem with version 8.0. XP Home SP2 wouldn't shutdown but it didn't freeze so I could go to Start, Shut Down again and then I was getting “Acronis Scheduler2 Helper – not responding”, so I went End Now, and then there was another one like: “Privacy expert.e not responding” so again I went End Now – after that Windows could shutdown normally. With the latest update to version 9.0 things went worse – my system keeps rebooting and it is not possible to uninstall the application in Safe Mode neither.

    Acronis Malware Shield Service causes this problem.
    Go to Control panel\administrative tools and then services, stop "Acronis Malware Shield Service" and change it's startup type to "manual" till acronis fix this problemo_O
    attention: Spyware shield does not works when you done it.

    I beg to differ.

    I have AMSS running, along with other HIP App's i.e ProcessGuard, AppDefend and RegDefend, [RD not a HIP, but near as good as] on an XP OS.

    And I can shut down 7seconds and or do a restart full cycle 28seconds.

    So I do not think AMSS is digicammad main problem.

    What I do not have running as a service [I set it to disabled in services] is Acronis Scheduler2 Service.

    hi thequest

    if you disabled AMSS Service you should not have problem while shutting down windows.
    AMSS prevents User Profile From unloading from memory so windows can not shut down.

    hello
    won't acronis solve this problem.almost maware shield is useless because after loading it windows can not shutdown and hangs on "Windows is shutting down" screen.
    malware shield prevent User registry from unloading.
    WHEN will you solve it:mad:

    I'm in the process of setting up a new system and also installed the Privacy Suite (version 9.0).
    It gave me the same kind of problem.
    My system shut down, but much slower than earlier, and I got an error message in the Event Viewer about problems with releasing the classes part of the registry.

    After uninstalling the Privacy Suite everything went back to normal.

    I do hope someone can find a solution to this, or at least - post an explanation.

    I had exactly the same problem when I upgraded to PE9

    I bit the bullet and took it off completely, never had a problem since. PE8 Spyware shield was OK but the new Malware Shield definately, as stated above, stopped the User Profile from being unloaded, hence the hang at shutdown.
