I found that I couldn't auto-update so I have downloaded the new upgrade installer.

It appears that this may be a problem still at the Sourceforge end, so you can get Wx 10.0.2 here.

    Enjoy ... :thumb:

Just a word of warning - if you decide to try Waterfox, just be sure to backup Firefox some way, because you will lose all your Firefox settings when you install Waterfox. Then, if you go back to Firefox, it's time consuming. I learned the hard way....

When I installed WF I didn't lose FF. WF installed on its own leaving FF 32x in place and all my FF settings and bookmarks automatically transferred to WF. Go figure. :)

John most probably meant that you have to be extremely careful when you uninstall Waterfox or it will erase all your Firefox profiles (which it borrowed from Firefox by default). It should say clearly that WF does NOT create any profile for its own but continues to use your FF one(s). When you uninstall Waterfox make sure you tell it to leave the "Settings" and NOT uninstall these or ALL your FF profiles are *poof*

That's encouraging news. I suppose I won't find out if my updater works until the next update. ;)

    EDIT: I re-installed 10.0.1 to see if I could auto-update to 10.0.2 & I couldn't. I have this string in about:config ~

    String: app.update.url.override;http://waterfoxproj.sourceforge.net/update/%CHANNEL%/%VERSION%/update.xml

Checking the URL on that string gets me this 400 error page:

An error has been encountered in accessing this page.

    1. Server: waterfoxproj.sourceforge.net
    2. URL path: /update/%CHANNEL%/%VERSION%/update.xml
    3. Error notes: NONE
    4. Error type: 400
    5. Request method: GET
    6. Request query string: NONE

That's not strictly true, I've uninstalled & re-installed Waterfox without losing Firefox. However, there is a caveat on their download page ~

Waterfox uses the same profile that Firefox does. If you uninstall Waterfox make sure you don't have the remove personal data box ticked!

You are correct....I didn't save profiles thinking they meant Waterfox profiles. Luckily, I had backed up my Mozilla profiles with MozBackup.

Where and at what point do you encounter that personal data box? Thanks in advance. :)

It's during the uninstillation process from Programs & Features in the Control Panel. The uninstalling Wizard asks you if you wish to keep personal data. I think that you click the checkbox if you don't want to keep your profile.

Have yet to try Waterfox. Is it worth running or not?

    Thanks in advance.
