Use keylogger as backup tool along with TI 2012?

Hi, moving spouse from old xp machine to win 7. Have never really used backup software for data, doing it manually instead. While messy it tends to be complete. I want to simplify and organize their backups so am going to set up True Image 2012 on the new machine, but one of the issues is dealing with the very short term data losses. For example when they have to do guest bloging or work with wordpress they sometimes lose the data if the screen freezes. Or sometimes in word the touchpad selects something or jumps by accident and they've deleted or over written something by accident and have to try and fix the error.

To pick up these lost entries I'm thinking a keylogger that can also do screen shots might be a good solution. Googling around has led me to PyKeylogger, SpectorPro, and Webwatcher. Want something so they can get to the lost data simply,to minimize their fustration.

Any comments or sugestions welcome.

You need to fix the problem at the root. And not patch it via keyloggers or anything like that.

 

I think a lot of their problem could be fixed by using a text editor (ie Word) to write the document and then post it into the online document/form, but it is an extra step that usually does not happen -I'm not doing it now either. It is not needed most of the time either, but when the website connection fails for whatever reason and you lose the text, its doubly frustrating for them when they have a lot of text and they know they could have avoided the loss by using a text program.

I don't like the idea of a keylogger logging all the time -my wife would not want a log of online banking for example. You do get into the problem of if you are having to turn a logger on and off are you any further ahead of just opening a text editor.

For the random pointing /selecting issue of the touchpad, I'm not sure if this will be an issue on the new machine or not, but a mouse can always be used if it can't be adjusted well enough for sensitivity. That said, it was an issue on the old notebook, and if she forgot her mouse it was a PITA at times.

Having never used a keylogger, I do wonder if it will just add more frustration to the mix, or if it will provide a useful easy backup tool.

 

You need to find out why the system is dropping keyboard input characters and repair that problem. If not, then a cut-and paste operation is in order.

Retrieving information from a key logger will be tedious for your purposes.
