Not getting very far with FD-ISR.

As soon as it is loaded I appear to be asked to make a second copy ?
when I do as requested I get the following message

" Unable to create static copy of active snapshot"

Anyone able to translate into English. I really would like to get this program to work

Did it make a Primary snap already?

I wonder if you have a program that may be interfering with the ability to make a snap...

I don't know about others but to minimize any problems that could potentially happen I shut everything down in order to make the snapshots or copy/update, but that's just me. I did the same when I installed the program also.

Some of the other folks will come a long and perhaps they can shed some light on this.

Nothing is coming to mind on that one. Don't which one you downloaded, but I'd email techsupport, and ask them.

01/28/2007 19:54:36 Copying snapshot "Primary Snapshot" to "Copy (2) of Primary Snapshot"
01/28/2007 19:54:36 Starting Microsoft Volume Shadow copy Service (VSS) for drive C:
    01/28/2007 19:54:37 Error - Async operation: Unknown error 0x80042318
01/28/2007 19:54:37 Error - Could not start VSS
01/28/2007 19:54:37 No files copied or deleted; Errors 2; 00:00:00.422

originally vss was set to manual - I changed it to auto so that bit works.
    But Async operation o_O?

For additional information regarding this error refer to link
    V-79-32772-8984Backup- WCTAOFO: Initialization failure on:
Shadow Copy Service (VSS). VSS Snapshot error. Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy
Service (VSS) cannot communicate with the writers. Check that the Volume
Shadow Copy Service is started, and check the Windows Event Viewer for
    errors related to this service.

What this is telling me is that you should try the Raxco Copy Engine, RSS:

Go to the command line: start - run - type cmd and click ok.

At the prompt type: cd \$ISR\$APP\Setup -- press enter

At the next prompt type: ISRSetup -install -rss --- press enter

After the installation, you may be prompted to reboot. If you are not prompted to restart then manually restart the machine after the install -rss command is successfully executed.

    hth,

Thanks Screamer - you were correct. Followed your instructions I have just now made a Secondary Snapshot.

I was surprised that it took 28 minutes to copy 5.08 gig

anyway now I can start playing -- so thanks for your help
