I am interested in QuickHeal too.. Seems to have a good start at Virus Bulletin, but then again I'm no expert like many of the other members of this forum.

    VB Link for QuickHeal

I must admit to being a little wary of both sites having dead "about us" links which is where one would expect to find the privacy policy, etc - or am I missing something here?

LOL! eScan USA is about 5 miles from my house, and I just realised after some research that I know them... LMAO. Basically, I believe this product sits on the winsock layer, scanning incoming in realtime, before it reaches you OS effectively. I interesting concept, but does it effect performance? Any downsides to it? Or because its not actually running in the OS, but on the layers before the OS, is the performance hit ZERO? I just saw a recent writeup about them in the Detroit Free Press, i'll have to see if its online.

Another thing of note, this was partially developed by the AVK people (Gdata), and uses the KAV engine.

I thought some of it looked familiar.. LOL!

dear Detox, this is embarassing, i couldn't find the "about us" page of MicroWorld. but i found the policy page:

    http://microworld.co.in/corporate/policies.asp

again i couldn't find the "about us" page of QuickHeal and this time i couldn't even find the policy. i don't know what to say.

dear Kobra i already mentioned eScan is using the KAV engine. what makes you think it works in the winsock layer? if it does then it'll be the POP3 scanner part. winsock is used for communication between layer 4 and layer 5. so it'll get it before the OS. but the RTM will probably revector int13 or int21 for file scanning. one more thing there is no AV with ZERO performance hit. its impossible.

i'm hoping someone will download and test those. waiting for Bob man.

AMRX - at least MicroWorld's privacy policy doesn't look bad. Admittedly, this isn't necessarily the best way to judge the performance of AV apps, but I won't touch anything no matter how good it is if the people behind it don't seem on the "up and up" so to speak.

To be honest, I don't think I would get any AV (especially PAID for) from any company that couldn't make their website links work.

well you are right. sometimes we know a lot by just reading the policy. i'm talking about adwares and malwares here. i agree but sometimes a network problem might cause the page to be unreachable. Quickheal scored a VB award while eScan failed. i'm looking forward to the result of any individual tester. i guess Bobman and Kobra is testing.
