I am currently running KIS 2012, MBAM Pro, and Trusteer Rapport. KIS has a banking mode that seems to be similar to Rapport. Is there any need to have Rapport if I setup the banking mode in KIS? Is there a benefit to Rapport over KIS?

    Thanks for the help.

The amount of ram that program uses for only protecting the browser is ridiculous. I think it was over 60 megs the last time I looked. Not even Kaspersky uses that much ram.

Very old news and really unfair to base your judgement only on those outdated information. They have performed very well is several malware tests (e.g. MRG) and aside the memory use, its an overall solid complement to your security setup.

A bug from 2010... yeah crap xD

Trusteer rapport is one of the few programs that are able to block banking malware, fraud... by default, no signatures needed. In fact is one of the few programs that has never fail in the MRG banking malware tests (if I remember well)

Trusteer Rapport is free because these 'guys' pay to develope that software:

Alliance Bank of AZ, Alliance & Leicester, Alta Alliance Bank, Amegy Bank, American State Bank, Auto Trader UK, BancFirst, Bangor Savings Bank, BankFIRST, Bank of America, Bank of Cyprus, UK Bank of Montreal, Bank of Nevada, Bank of the West, Bank of Valletta, Bankers Trust, BBVA Compass, BOK Financial, Boursorama Busey Bank, Cadence Bank, Cambridge Savings Bank, Cape Bank, Cape Cod 5, Capital Bank, Capital City Bank, Carolina First Bank, CenterState Bank, Central Bank KY, Central Bank UT, Charter One, CIBC, Clydesdale Bank, CNB, CNB Bank, CNLBank, CoBiz Financial, Comerica, Commerce Bank, WA Co-Operative Bank, Coutts CoVantage, Credit Union Coventry, Building Society eBay,Ecobank, EECU, Enterprise Bank, EverBank, Exchange Bank, F&M Bank, FMB FL, Fifth Third Bank, first direct, First Independent NV, First Republic Bank, First United Bank, Grandpoint Bank, Hancock Bank, Harris Bank, HSBC, Huntington National Bank, IBC Bank, ING DIRECT Canada, ING DIRECT USA, Interbanking, iTransfer, M&F Bank, Mahopac National Bank, Martin FCU, Mechanics Bank, Mercantile Bank, Mercantile Bank MI, Merchants Bank, Merrill Lynch, Metro Bank, Mid-Atlantic Corporate National, Bank of Arizona, Nationwide NatWest, NBC Bank, Nedbank, NEFCU, Nevada State Bank, N&P Building, Society OceanFirst Bank, Old National Bank, OnVista Bank, PayPal, Peoples Bank OH,WV,KY, Peoples Bank (MO), President’s Choice, Financial PSECU, RBS Citizens, Renasant Bank, Republic Bank, Riverview Community Bank, Rockland Trust, Royal Banks of Missouri, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander, Santander Chile, Santander Rio, Scotiabank, Scotiabank Mexico, Selfbank, Selftrade, ShareBuilder, SiebertNet, Smile, Societe Generale, Somerset Hills Bank, Southwest Bank, Standard Bank, State Bank & Trust, SunTrust, Synovus, TCB Phila, TDFCU, The Bank of Castille, Tompkins Trust, Torrey Pines Bank, Tropical FCU, USAmeriBank, Ulster Bank, United Bank, Utah Community Bank, Valley National Vectra Bank, Westfield Bank, YBS, Yorkshire Bank, Zions Bank.

This is the only online test that matters: They know that when their customers install Trusteer their losses caused by online fraud drop, and that's why they keep paying for it. You can be sure that banks never give money for free and also that they don't give a lollipop about a random guy that upload videos in internet.

    Why?

Trusteer Rapport (TR) is a good program in principle. Unfortunately I found it slowed down browsing quite a bit, but that was some time ago. I expect they keep working on it. I think there are more security programs doing a better job of protecting online transactions now. The important thing is to make sure the bases are covered. Given that there are still many people who are lax about protecting their computers it makes sense for the banks to advertise and give TR away. I would agree that it doesn't make much sense to reference a review of TR that's three years old. Regarding the "banking mode" offered by KIS 2012 it looks like it has to be manually configured for the site - is that correct? The nice thing about TR is if your bank is directly supported no configuration is needed.

3 years or not it does leave an bad aftertaste ,id rather go with prevx safeonline wich is old ;)

perhaps a more uptodate review? ;)

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=313878

p.s: if you use wsa complete theres no need for those 2 since it already has banking protection integrated a more advanced form of prevx safeonline ;)

And? according to you any the security software is crap, AV's are bypassed daily thousand of times and Trusteer Raport has been only bypassed by a banking malware a couple of times since it was release many years ago, and they always fix the problem in less than 1 day.

BTW wsa is stil bypassed with the MRG banking tests-

That review is still old news. All security software can be bypassed. The question is how quickly does the vendor respond and upgrade the product to protect against the latest exploit? Trusteer has a 24/7 support center offering email, chat and phone support, but no forum as far as I can tell. I don't know how quickly they respond to threats and if it's possible for the user to be in the loop. I use WSA because I also believe it's a better product and it's supported here in wilders, so it's possible to track what's going on. I don't expect it to be perfect though.

In the man-in-the-browser tests done by the BBC's Click, Trusteer Rapport was one of the products that failed. Several online banking customers got hit big time by this one. I do not know if there has been a fix applied as yet.

I have Trusteer installed on my PC (courtesy of my bank) and I found that it does not slow down Chrome but IE9 has become very slow. I have no idea why this is. Maybe the performance gurus here know why that might be. I disabled the few add-ons that I have to see if it was one of them, but IE9 was still slow with Trusteer running ... without it, it runs quite well.

Concerned over the man-in-the-browser malware I looked into setting up SBIE for banking only. I have the SBIE paid version & I have been using it vanilla. I took a look at some older posts here on this subject & I got the impression that SBIE would not have stopped this malware if you fell for its ruse.

Is Trusteer Rapport needed? The Banks have their back-end security but they want something at the Client end and this is what they are backing. For the banks, yes.

Tnx Fax for pointing this out.
I watched the program and was trying to write down all the failed AVs (which was behind the presenter... I was catching what I could as he moved around. I was pretty sure Trusteer was on that screen . Obviously, my mistake. Thanks.
Where did you get that list that you posted? I would like to see the the failed list.

We've blocked it for months and I have the best proof you could possibly have:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2011555&postcount=1128

Can we please stop spreading lies now? :) WSA and P3 have never been fully vulnerable either - it only affected a small portion of users.

    Hi emmjay,

Our Online Banking Report was stimulus for the BBC Click programme and we did all the testing used in the actual programme. I can confirm that Trusteer Rapport Passed the test and also reveal that Prevx 3.x was tested and failed – but was not mentioned in the final TV programme (its exclusion was nothing to do with us).

In answer to questions concerning the latest Webroot secure Anywhere and our banking tests, I can confirm that it now passes against the simulator used in the BBC Click programme as we supplied this to Webroot – (we supplied it to all the vendors who failed).

We will be publishing a follow up report to the BBC Click programme next week. This will retest all the original applications (latest versions) and some others against the same simulator.

We have conducted several tests using new simulators and will be publishing the results soon in our upcoming Online Banking and VDI security reports.

    Regards,
    Sveta

Isn't it irrelevant if the security vendors pass the re-test after samples are supplied to the vendors? If software failed to detect/prevent in the first place, that's the result. Am I the only one thinking the same? By supplying the samle and then do a re-test, wouldn't all vendors pass the test if they just took a look at the sample?

The flaws are meant to be fixed. The hope is that any malware trying to attempt same then fails

I see, excuse me for not being very up to date, I've been so busy IRL lately.

So the test was about flaws in the software and its detection methods rather than its signatures.
