    Hi everybody,

After reading some threads about proxy surfing, I got interested. I'm a newbie in this field.

I have installed TfW and and got indeed a "new" IP address. I have tested this at ipid.shat.net, showmyip.com and grc ( i got the same "new" IP address at all 3 sites).
    Some other things I found:
    *surfing had become very slow
    *shield up test resulted in 5 OPEN ports: 22, 25, 80. 110, 113 !!

Is this due to a lack of configuring ?

    I'm using IE.

    Dell Dimension 5000
    P4 3.2 GHZ
    1 gig memory
    zonealarm (free version)
    Kaspersky personal
    Giant Antispyware (=now microsoft beta)

I'm using a ZyXel modem that also functions as a router.

Haven't tried TfW yet - still using TOR w/Privoxy. Surfing is indeed slow - I split surfing between "anonymous" and "public" just to keep from getting too impatient.

Are you sure that the "Shields Up" test isn't reporting on the ports open on the TOR server and not your PC? Might want to check your firewall log to see if the port scans even got to your machine through the TOR network.
