I have downloaded the latest version of TI 9 (2323) to test. I am in need of good backup software before I send my laptop off for maintenance next month. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite M45-S351. I have read of some problems with Toshibas on the forum.

Here is my issue. I have been able to create images of the HD perfectly. But I have been unable to get the Acronis Boot CD to boot consistently. Once on my Desktop (Dell Dimension 4600) it booted. But often it does not boot, hanging at the "Loading..." screen.

It may be the USB devices. I selected the Recommended boot (enabling SCSI and USB) and that is when it hangs. I can unplug all my USB devices, except for one problem - the backup is on an external HD that is USB.

Here is my question: assuming a worst casae scenario, that my HD gets lost, destroyed, etc., by Toshiba (I hope not, but better to be prepared), would I be able to restore easily by reinstalling Windows XP and then installing TI9 and running it from within Windows?

What other options do I have? I really can't have my only backup be in a format that is only recognizable by TI9, and then be unable to get the program to run.

I will need help on this before I consider purchasing. If not, I'll have to go elsewhere.

    Hello FredGreco,

Have you tried adding the commands acpi=off noapic (make sure you spell the last command correctly - it's too easy to type noacpi !!) in the Linux kernal command line as detailed in the Acronis Support Sticky <Please Read Before You Post>.

    Regards

    Hello FredGreco,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software.

If the "acpi=off noapic" workaround suggested above by Menorcaman does not help then please create Acronis Report and Linux system information as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

If you are not be able to create sysinfo.txt file for some reason then please boot from the Acronis True Image 9.0 rescue disc once more and press F11 key when the selection screen appears. After you get the "Linux Kernel Settings" prompt, please remove the "quiet" word, click on the OK button. As the startup messages stop scrolling please write down the last few lines of the output, or use a digital camera to make shots of the output screens.

In case you are not able to write down the last few lines of the output for some reason, please create Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

Could you please also clarify whether Bootable Rescue CD does not boot constantly or sometimes only?

Please submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
