Well, on the other hand, fascist and socialist dictatorships are the first to warmly and strongly embrace their wholly-owned, state-run media/propaganda machines. Arguably, criticism of the media is a hallmark of a well-functioning democracy or republic, where true freedom of expression still remains. Absence of criticism is likely when you have to start to worry.

plus, all media outlets are somewhat biased and have a political leaning to a certain extent. this is just a newspaper column. not a scientific paper. if you want to read "researched, sourced facts" you could buy and read one of his books.

One thing is simple: There is no complete impartiality. There is no impartial journalist, no impartial judge, no impartial teacher. Does this mean that everything can be relativized as opinion? Obviously not.

What we have to watch out for is exactly the people who take any theory (flat earth, anti-vaccine, right or left extremism) and implies that this is the reality, no matter what the data and evidence tell us. And Youtubers do it much more easily than professional journalists in serious newspapers.

Regarding state control of the press, as has been pointed out, this occurs in countries such as China, for example. However, what we saw with Trump (USA) or Bolsonaro (Brazil) elections was exactly that they were playing against traditional media, in the sense that the traditional press would be a liar (or leftists), even when countless sources and serious evidence show the contrary. Does anyone disagree with that?

    BTW, sorry for my english.
