In order to speed-up your computer :
    1) Check your disk for errors (what you ask)
Open My Computer , right click on the hard drive (e.g. C) , Properties -> Press the "Tools" tab and press Check now . Do the same for every hard disk you have

    2) Defragment your hard drive(s)
Open My Computer , right click on the hard drive (e.g. C) , Properties -> Press the "Tools" tab and press "Defragment now" Do the same for every hard disk you have

    3) Delete all temporary files
You can run Windows Disk Clean up
    Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Clean up
Check all the things to be removed and press OK . Do the same for all hard disks you have

    4) Remove unused software , Goto Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and uninstall all the software you no longer use

Open Start->Run , type msconfig and press ENTER . Go to the Start-up items and decide which programs you don't want to load at Start-up . Be careful because you might disable something essential

We had a PM conversation . The problem turned out to be the fact that R.m4n's computer was very infected with lots of malware + his Winsock was broken . After he run number of tools + NOD32 and after he repaired his Winsock , he reported Problem solved ;)
