Strange unwanted emails

Since I registered here I have received over 200 emails from adverts/perverts and other vegetables. This place is the only place that knows my email address (I created it specially 2 mins before registering and have never sent any email or replied or forwarded from it unless to here for registration purposes).

Odd thing for a girl is receiving emails promising to enlarge private body parts that females simply arn't born with...

Please stop or cancel them if you can. I didn't want them or ask for them. You have dealt with an idiot by passing on my email address.

Luckily my isp allows deletion of all contents of received emails without viewing them (only the senders name), so please reply via this thread, no-one I know or trust knows the existance of the email address I gave you.

I'm sorry this happened to you.
I see this is your first posting, and you did hide your email address didn't you, so how can people email you via this board if you did not give/IM it to them?
Maybe you like to upload a bit less "attractive" avatar to protect yourself a bit more?
The hidden email addresses are never revealed to nobody, nor traded, nor can the internet harvesters get them that way. You are on a security forum, so this part is very hidden and well protected.
I have my email address in the open over a year here and little happened.
My hotmail address and a few more are big fiesta for the spammers, but i did not really notice an increase when i had one of these here in the open for several days.

Is your address at one of the free emailservices?
Can you put some filters, using mailwasher, or use some message rules of your email client?

I have a very quick delete button, so i don't even know from the rest which is not filtered out already what was in it.


Question: are these the general impersonal spam messages or really especially written to you? Doesn't seem logical with the examples you mention if it was harvested via this board with your very female avatar to send you those, so you might like to look deeper into the matter.
Do you have SamSpade, the desktop tool of them, to parse the full header to see which is the real sender so you can complain adequately to their abuse departments?

Lately i was able to find out all about an email somebody received and sent me the whole complete source and full header and told me a few habits more, so i knew what to look for especially.

not the whole team, only a very select few fortunately. I would not even like to be able to have access to people's privacy.

 

If it is, then i bet they have been selling it (e.g. msn has a long history of such behaviour).

Good to hear that one more person can handle/discard all that spam easily...

At times i go to the mailserver via webmail and can delete all suspicious and unwanted stuff there without opening it at all, saves a lot, but mail is collected several times an hour, so i'm not frequenting the mailserver that often.

Even with Outlook Express and Outlook you can make extra message rules to have special senders or words containing senders filtered out, not d/l from the mailserver anyway, colored or marked, delivered in special created folders, etc.
autoreplies, bounce messages, etc.
It might be extra discouraging to include something in the text telling it's autoresponder only, so don't reply no human eyes are going to see it as they will be trashed immediately (*the replies, not the eyes unless it's theirs ) and some discouraging sender name.
Make it something always bouncing so no other receiver is bothered and they pay the traffic one and back, not you.

To add my 2 cents:
Those kind of emails (the ones you never asked for) are called Spam.
Spam is absolutely a big annoyance !!!

As mentioned above by others, MailWasher is a nice program that gives you the ability to have a quick view at your provider's server on all the emails that are waiting for you. You can then decide which ones you really would like to receive, which ones to delete at your provider's mailserver and/or which ones to bounce in a way it looks like your email-address doesn't exist.

And, in general, there exists some filters that could "see" the difference between Spam and non-Spam (but keep in mind that no such filter is 100% perfect).

 

I stopped them.

I deleted the email account and address.
It was only created to get a login for this place, so no harm done.

I will create another without an ordinary name, also downloading mailwasher for my main account - just in case.
