    Upgrading Tips:

To upgrade SpywareBlaster from a previous version you can either:
    (a) Download and install the new version of SpywareBlaster "over-the-top".
    (b) Uninstall the old version of SpywareBlaster first. Please see the detailed upgrade instructions here: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbupdate.html

    Either method should work.

Thank you very much, javacool ! :thumb:

    PS:
One very little and very minor thing about the instructions on http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbupdate.html
    should be:

3.Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the entry named "SpywareBlaster 4.5"

    (meaning: 4.5 instead of 4.4)

    ;) ;)

Keep up the good work !

I do like SpywareBlaster and I have used the program for many years.

But I wonder why the frequent upgrades? Version 4.5 is only a few months old. Could you not offer the latest updates to version 4.5? I don't want to upgrade so often, it is more work than updating. And I can't even choose to wait with the upgrade, 4.5 can't be updated anymore. I wish updates would be sufficient. :)

The scan has been removed. No option to turn off tea timer. My roommate now thinks his system is running slow because of spybot.

Spybot's tea timer has been notorious for sucking up system resources since the very inception of spybot! It is has always been the most major and absurd flaw with spybot.

SpyBot used to be good. I do not know about this new version though, as it seems to have removed most of the features and the ability to turn tea timer off.

You are confusing applications. Spywareblaster is not Spybot Search & Destroy hence no teatimer function. This forum does not deal with Spybot either.

Thgen you can use a credit card to purchase this great application.

To users of Firefox: more than anyone else you gotta use more third party software protection since FF is the least secure of the 3 main browsers (IE9, Chrome and FF).

The MD5 for spywareblastersetup46.exe does not match, and I think it is so because of this:
I checkeed the MD5 for the spywareblastersetup46.exe downloaded today with the freeware util HashTab. The MD5 generated was
    MD5: 6CE3EC0CDF829F050A0E5A2C3B677212
whereas the site page currently shows
    MD5: DEF37F72C68E80ABF9D3A99A381CBBED as
    SpywareBlaster 4.6 Installer | Size: 3,179 KB | MD5: DEF37F72C68E80ABF9D3A99A381CBBED
The size of my download is also different (3,182 KB)
Are these differences because of version 4.6.1.0 (downloaded) instead of 4.6.0.0.(shown on site page)?
Maybe the site page requires updating urgently to reflect the newer version (4.6.1.0 instead of 4.6.0.0.) and the corresponding new MD5 to avoid further confusion.

Unfortunately they are not very careful in updating the Home Page.

    And posting Changelogs.
If you download from Majorgeeks you will have 4.6.1.0 version
If you download from Download.com you will have 4.6.0.0 version
So the question could be "What is the latest version"?

In addition here http://www.brightfort.com/downloads.html you will see that they still talk abot update 9/9/2012, while the real latest one is dated 9/23/2012

I had just posted about it moments ago. Only now I've seen your post.

Anyway, where in the website do you see 4.6.0.0? I only see 4.6. :doubt:
